Nigeria’s Unity Is Non-negotiable, Says Tambuwal; Rejects Restructuring by ericuzor(m): 8:09am On Sep 15, 2016
Governor Tambuwal said he believes “in the unity of the country, which is non-negotiable. Dialogue is also the most potent tool to resolve all problems, anywhere and at anytime.

“There are really challenges in Nigeria, and it is not peculiar to the nation, and these challenges are surmountable.”

He made the call when he received various professional groups, who paid him Sallah homage yesterday in Sokoto.

The groups included Sokoto Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture; Association of Resident Communities; Coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations, among others.

Tambuwal rejected calls for the “geographical” restructuring of the country, saying instead, the country should focus on fiscal restructuring.

He promised to revive ailing industries in the state in partnership with the chamber, and adopt policies to bolster trade and commerce.

The governor assured the group of non-indigenes living in the state that they were equal partners in running the affairs of the state, while urging the NGOs and other groups to offer constructive criticisms that would guide the government in meeting the challenges confronting the state.

Its only the northerners that is against restructuring this country. I don't know why this people are so backward in everything, even in their reasoning.

They alone cannot decide the fate of Nigeria. They should focus on their cow business and leave sensitive matters for better people to decide.

Tambuwal rejected calls for the “geographical” restructuring of the country, saying instead, the country should focus on fiscal restructuring.

you guys really need to learn how to read and understand before rushing to comment. Tambuwal just called for fiscal federalism that will put more of the oil revenue into the pockets of oil producing states and you are here abusing him. Do you even know the difference between geographical restructuring and fiscal restructuring? Niger Delta states are calling for fiscal federalism and Tambuwal just supported that call, still, you are ignorantly calling him an illiterate. Are you not the illiterate here? undecided

I don't know why yorubas always support this hausa/fulanis, if not, I don't see how one person can hold 2 people down... yorubas should try to break free from hausa/fulani. .

. the south should be one, then let it be south and north, let see who wins

We have come too far in our National life to negotiate a breakup of our country. For the fact that the preferred candidate of a particular section if the country lost the last presidential elections is not enough to advocate for a breakup. All treasonous secessionist movements will be crushed by force. Just ask the IPOB about the events of May

"Tambuwal rejected calls for the “geographical” restructuring of the country, saying instead, the country should focus on fiscal restructuring."

How exactly can there be fiscal restructuring without Geographical restructuring?

The North currently holds unfair amount of slots in LG distribution and NASS, conferred to her by the Northern military junta through proliferation of states in the North.

Geographical restructuring might alter that.

You have come too far? Who are you decieving with that? If Scotland which was a part of Britain for 350 years could negotiate a referendum in 2014 where they almost left Britain, then how far do you think you have gone? 102 years? Don't make me laugh. If Britain that created Nigeria could allow Scotland the choice of staying or going, then Nigerias unity is not only negotiable, it must be negotiated!

It is quite insulting that a Hausa man will be telling an Igbo whom he has no historical connection with that they must be together. I laugh in Igbo

You can laugh in Swahili all you want, it wont change the fact that there will be no dividing of our country without bloodshed. And please dont compare the case of Scotland and the UK because its like comparing apples and pears

What national life? The one The British created for you? The one Queen Eliza and co are still continuing to milk for the benefit of her country and people, while you still remain a person from the Ni.gga Area (hence Nigeria)?

There's absolutely nothing but shame as far as this colony is concerned, and like better nations, the real boundaries and history should be recognized, which of course, the former speaker does not want to do.

He was there as Speaker decamping left and right, doing nothing, and of course, offered governor title for Sokoto- a place that still has nothing world class about it.
