An average Nigerian thinks less and negative of a pot user, thanks to the torrents of stereotype surrounding marijuana in the Nigerian community. Alcohol and Cigarettes on the other hand are erroneously considered to be passive. Another common stereotype is that marijuana can cause schizophrenia or madness, which is very false. But long term abuse and long term underage consumption may cause the user to drop IQ points. I would advise anyone below 21 years of age not to smoke marijuana. A lot of people hold the belief that Marijuana is more harmful than alcohol which is wrong. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, there were 3.3 million deaths attributed to alcohol in 2012. Of course, alcohol poisoning is responsible for some of these deaths. On the other hand, no one has ever died from a marijuana overdose. But the long-term effects of alcohol, such as chronic illnesses, cause the most deaths. Another argument is that marijuana has a number of proven medical uses, whereas no doctor would ever recommend alcohol to a sick patient. The use of medical marijuana is now growing around the world. Cannabis is most commonly prescribed for pain. This could include anything from migraine headaches to spinal injury. It can also be helpful for patients experiencing nausea and appetite loss, such as those undergoing chemotherapy. Some doctors also prescribe marijuana for Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, anxiety, PTSD, depression and a variety of other conditions.

Too much of anything is bad, as users must be cautious not to abuse the substance. But Nigeria remains in the old world on drugs, abortion amongst many other things.

PS: I'm a recreational user. I prefer dipping it in tea to rolling up. The high may take more time to hit, but it does get the smell of you. grin
