Blame Politicians For Nation’s Woes by ichommy(m): 12:27pm On Oct 10, 2009
Founder and National Coordinator, Nigeria Parent/Teacher Association Pa Babatunde Animashaun has heaped the blame for all the woes Nigeria is currently passing through on the doorsteps of the nation’s politicians.
Chief Animashaun expressed this in a chat with Daily Sun at a recent event in Lagos.

According to him, the Nigerian political scene is characterized more by politicians of negative tendencies. He however, pointed out that there are still a handful who have the interest of the country at heart.

His words: “the problem of this country is largely caused by Nigerian politicians. We have the negative ones among this group and we have the positives ones too. But all we appeal is that they give democracy and accountability its pride of place. Let them be honest and earn their representation”.
Pa Animashaun charged all political office-holders and other leaders to put the interest of their followers at heart in all their dealings.

He give kudos to Governor Fashola for his revolutionary and dynamic leadership in Lagos State.
While canvassing for transparency, free and fair electioneering process, the social crusader further made a case against election rigging. “Let them count on our vote. Let our votes be meaningful.
However, there are genuine ones. I’ll give you an example of my ideal governor. He is that young man in Lagos and tell you what, he forbids siren. He ia worthy of emulation”.
On the recent sectarian crisis that rocked the northern part of the country, Pa Animashaun commended the federal government and security operatives for taking prompt action in quelling the upheaval.

Describing the Boko Haram insurgence as disastrous bigotry. He regretted that “at this age and time, people could still indulge in such bigotry” and stated that “such was a big danger which could have caused terrible consequences across the nation if not promptly checked”. He however, condemned any form of extra-judicial killing across Nigeria.

The recent happenings at the banking sector also caught the elder citizen’s attention.
“We want the Central Bank to be sure of its facts in connection with mismanagements and bank debts as revelations have proved. I believe banking is a profession that involves deposit and judicious utilization of the deposits”.

Continuing, he said: “It is when people put in charge of these resources do not take proper care of their plans that action such as have been taken by the apex bank is taken. Having listened to the reason given by the Central Bank, we are satisfied that bank debts has been endemic”.
It is his hope that the apex bank will step up its machinery to earnestly and sincerely scrutinize the other banks in order to come up with result of how healthy or otherwise they are.
“ For God’s sake, let them go through the rest and give us final analysis, because if we have 25 banks and only five was taken, how are we sure that they others are not equally sick? he queried.
