Dangote suggested it this week. They all endorsed it this week. It didn't take them long to debate on it again. Probably they have all collected envelope from him. I strongly feel Dangote will be the one to buy because even the FG will prefer to sell to him. Rather he might use someone to front to buy it. He is going in to Oil and gas now and it was quick for him to suggest that we. Sell national assets knowing well that the only national assets we have is related to oil and gas. The man simply want to own the country. The question is , if Nigeria go in to recession 20yrs time what are they going to sell that time ?

Am not surprise of the governors endorsing the sale of national assets, after selling it the know how much that will be allocate to them for looting.

Nigeria will be sold soonst by APC govt! The ones that were sold already what was the outcome? Most of these polithievicians and billionaires have already positioned themselves to buy and enrich their generations! Nigeria would be like Esau who sold his birthright for a plate of pottage!

FG should start by selling the presidential air fleets and reduction of politicians salaries and scrapping of most their allowance!

What happens after the proceed from the sales have been squandered and we ve nothing else to sell?

Our governors knows nothing but sell and share. Why can't government task the rich and reduce the cost of running this government, sell some of the presidential jets, force the banks that borrowed from government to pay, task houses by their value, people living in houses worth millions of dollars could pay higher, our past and present government officials are seating comfortably on our money and advising the government to sell the remains of Nigeria so they can buy it off.unfortunately we have an illiterate president who have been confused by the nature of Nigeria. From Mr know all to confused man. I pray God help the poor by any means I don't care, we just need help. 5%have spoken.

If they sell it to reputable foreign companies backed with huge war chest and technical expertise, then I support the sale of our assets.

But if it is to sell it to themselves, then I am against it

This was how this same governors shared ECA money during last admin and they were accusing GEJ of spending it.... Same people are endorsing sale of National asset....

We need revolution in this country.... The question is, who will start it?
Re: Governors Endorse Sale Of National Assets Over Recession by Laid2001: 11:18am On Sep 23, 2016
Exactly what is required Now to get huge dollars to bail out the country.

Many of these assets are holes in the pocket of the federal government through which money is being siphoned!. Huge sums are budgeted every year for turn around maintenance of the refineries, but yet they never work, money is just shared. The single airport (MMA2) ran by concessionaire is clearly more efficient than the one, ran by government with power outage daily.!

Government is not able to finance the JV companies as they should and surely needs to reduce its cost exposure as bulk of the FGN revenue from the Oil sector is tax anyway. And selling its stake in the companies will have only little effect on its revenue. this because bulk of its budget for JV operations goes into funding corruptions and inefficiencies in the machineries of government.

The only one that should really not be sold is the NLNG. This is currently run as and by private sector. It is an incorporated JV and government is a share holder that gets lots of dividend from it. Government revenue from NLNG is from the declared profit as opposed to tax in the upstream companies.

So correct! Why not borrow and payoff the debt gradually with the proceeds from the assets. After finishing the payment the assets will still be running and generating employement & profit.

why not reduce the cost of governance. Our country is among the poorest but our political office holders are among the highest earners. If we are in tune with reality, they should shut the senate and house of rep down for now. we dont need them. we need to run skeletal government to put things in order. rather they dont want to bequeath anything to the leaders of tomorrow. they want to chop all at once. meanwhile all these monies they are amassing, are they going to spend it hereafter? we really need to change our value system.

did people watched Aljazeera TV channel yesterday where it was reported that some European countries have been accused of exporting toxic, low quality fuel with high concentration of sulfur to most west African countries including Nigeria. it was reported that these low quality fuel is injurious to the body system and also pollute the environment.
The news further said that because of high level corruption in the country the four refineries in the country have not been made to work so we import almost 100% of our toxic fuel. it was further reported in the news that when one of the officials in NNPC was asked to react to the report his reply was " no comment" which is an admission of guilt.
One will like to ask, is this how we want to continue to run the system? why not go into partnership with the private sectors to run the refineries on profit and to create more jobs for the people rather leave the so called national assets to continue to waist away.
Over to the wailers.

I am just wondering how Lai Mohamed would have reacted to this development as APC spokesman few years back. All the things he was criticising then are the same things he is defending now. Very unstable people speaking from both sides of the mouth depending on which side of the divide the find themselves.

This is how Dangote advised the Koggi government to sell off its cement factory and now koggi's internally generated revenue can't pay state civil servants....

Why can't the FG invoke more funds in rebranding these sectors and JVNs?

This move is to enrich the already rich politicians who will battle to buy off the JVN and NLGN..

If this government was keen on managing this recession. They should start by cutting taxes of the average man. With a lil spending money in the pockets of the masses, the economy might improve.

Tell fg to cut their spending costs as well. Sponsoring your entire family together with your friends and well wishers to un assemble isn't smart. It's a busiensss trip, not a vacation
