The EFCC has it in their statutes to question transactions above a certain amount. So what's so wrong there?

our twitter senator is just emotional jare

His common sense skits have refused to give clear answers to our recession

So owing money is now a crime cos I don't get your point. You people obviously don't want anything positive in this country. Each time someone says something sensible, you'll always look for ways to attack that person, but you forget it's affecting you too. At least the recession is affecting you too, the bad roads, poor electricity, security issues..... all of them in one way or the other. . .even if you're an APC bigot.

Any investor dat has a valid source of income & right motive 4 doing business, will have nothing 2 fear. People investing in legit businesses will be bold 2 invest in a country like Nigeria in times like dis.
We aren't scaring dem, but paving d way 4 investors 2 come in. Our system is being sanitised.

If they are afraid of anti-corruption war then they should go to hell with their investments... We need a long term solution to Nigeria problem not a short term..

Very silly, so you mean EFCC should go about interpallating and apprehending individuals because they have some amount of money for investment and other purposes with baseless graft criminations?

No wonder people like this voted in the certificateless cattle rearer.
Mynd44:

No. According to the anti-money laundering bill, and trnsfer of abive a certain amount of money must be reported by the bank to the ICPC nad EFCC. It is the law.
To add to what Mynd has said, it isn't just a law in Nigeria alone, just about every reasonable country in the world has this very same money laundering law, it was just never taken serious in Nigeria. If you suddenly make a transaction of a certain value, your bank is required to inform the anti-graft agency. The anti-graft agency also has a right to call/invite you for questioning, and you will never be harassed once you explain how you came about the money.

I'm surprised at this Ben Bruce's statement, when i opened this thread i thought I was going to read something good. This is just sanity being instilled in a system and it's strange why a lot of people are averse to this development, or do we just prefer a lawless society?

'Bruce recalled that former President Olusegun Obasanjo also fought corruption but that his anti-corruption fight did not put fearin the minds of real investors.'

He did not mention GEJ.

This is a lie. Stop distorting fact. PEJ was not indicted. She indicted herself by laying claim to money that is not in her account.

How can a sane human say investors are running away from an anticorruption friendly environment. Is that common sense

If you are an investor, would you carry your money to an unsafe corruption loving environment, where your funds/investments can be stolen without been curbed

This guy needs to be flogged I swear angry angry angry angry
how can a self acclaimed sane man make this comment?
Before you invest won't you save for a while, then carrying out the study on and about the portfolio?
No wonder, you aren't an investor and never understand the SSS's of economy and investments.

Special adviser ben Bruce: with all the advising talent wey u get kindly advise ur state governor to develop Bayelsa state with all the huge monthly allocation there, there's no any meaningful development in yenagua. So let him go and advise Bayelsa state government first before talking about Nigeria. He's a senator from Bayelsa. And no any meaningful development in the state he's representing. From tumbia roundabout just a scissors road finish.

it seems you didn't really grasp my comment. I'm not against EFCC investigations, I'm just against apprehending people in such conditions. Like the news indicating that PEJ will be apprehended by EFCC, instead of inviting her for questions or making litigation.

In reality, it should have being only investors with dirty slates that should be taking the first flight out of Nigeria. But the thing be say, the anti-corruption campaign is a lopsided one way buoyant boat that only rescue the "BROOM WAVING PIRATES" at sea, as they loot from the "UMBRELLA EX-GENTLEMEN". To get aboard this ugly pirate ship, all you have to do is to denounce your Umbrella in exchange for a Broom. grin grin grin

What dry are you talking about?? how gullible to accede to the deceptive assertions of the govt that Nigeria is broke. For your information: Buhari’s 1 Year + In Office.

Buhari was handed over:
– $30billion in our Foreign Reserves,
– $2.5billion Sovereign Wealth Fund,
– $1.4billion in the ECA,
– $4.65b back taxes from NLNG.
– Buhari met an approved budget of N4.5trillion

Buhari received within a year:
– $2.7billion collected by Inland Revenue in his first 8 months.
– $2.1billion world bank loan.
– $850million Grants from UK, USA and Europe.
– 1.5trn saved from fuel subsidy removal
– Excluding crude oil sales, Joint Venture profits, Royalties, Income from Customs, NIMMSA, NPA, NACHO ……
– 3trilion on STA
not to include the “recovered” looted funds.

More than a year has passed:
1] Not a kilometer of road constructed,
2] Not a watt of Electricity generated,
3] Not a Ward added to any Hospital in Nigeria.
4] Not a job space created, except the CBN job he shared with his cronies.
5] Not a grain of corn or tomato seed was provided to farmers. [Fertilizer subsidy taken away and handed back to ex-military men] 6] 41 foreign companies mostly in service industry have left Nigeria
7] 4.3 Million jobs lost in 10months – National Bureau of Statistics.
8] Food scarcity last experienced in Nigeria between 1983 to 1985 returned back.
9] War on Corruption turned into war against his perceived enemies. Convictions by EFCC were cases meticulously started by previous govt(s). Buhari wins cases only on the pages of Newspapers.
10] Nigeria dropped from No.1 Investment destination in Africa to No.27 before South Sudan.
11] African Biggest economy shrink from a GDP of about 7% to -0.36%, the fastest decline in the world since record began.
12] No.3 fastest growing economy in the world to No.83 in 365days.

And I wonder why the president keeps giving the impression that the country is broke. The problem is not lack of funds, but lack of qualified individuals in the govt.
Do u even know what foreign reserves is?? For u to think the money belongs to Nigeria is funny . Maybe when u read about foreign reserves u will understand why Jonathan was a disaster

" if people are afraid, they will not invest; fear will not be a policy to grow the economy"--
I thought he was a businessman? I see why he's failing now.. Only ' risk averse' investors will not invest because they are afraid... The big boys in the business will assess the risk and demand more required return. so Sir Ben, anti- corruption policies does not affect investors confidence.

Every time you made comments on NL, they full of craps and ignorance.

EFCC should table before you how they do their job.

Should EFCC be the ones to prove how PEJ is claiming to own an account not in her name?

You h are the same ignorant that was claiming how PMB policy led to losses of job of 3000 people at the port. You don't even know that Nigeria don't own any of these shipping line.

Hiajin declared bankrupt and so many others because of world wide low tonnage of goods.

Here you are making a baseless conjecture.

It's a world wide practice that any individual that deposits cash in excess of what is allowed in financial practices would be questioned. Ask things you don't know.

Even in USA and Canada, for example, you be asked questions for making withdrawal of $10k or deposit of cash in excess of $20k, if you an an individual.

Always think out of your primitive local knowledge!
