Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hailed his team’s performance as ‘brilliant’ following their 5-1 win over Hull City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and two penalties from James Milner gifted Liverpool all three points in what was only their second game at Anfield this season due to construction works.

The result marked a third consecutive league win for Klopp and sees the club move up to third place following impressive displays against Leicester City and Chelsea.

In what was a rampant first half showing by the Reds, Klopp was eager to hail his players after their electric opening to the game.

“[The] first half was brilliant, absolutely brilliant,” Klopp said.

“All what we did was exactly how it should be in a game like this. We had wonderful build-up, wonderful movement, good passing game and different options in and around the box.

“We scored our goals like this but maybe we played the best counter-pressing we’ve played since I’ve been here. In a game like this you need it – you really need it.
