An Islamic Terrorist group identified as al-wilayat al-Islamiyya Gharb Afriqiyyah have laid a threat to bomb the University of Ibadan on October 1.
The group in a letter tendered to the university accused the institution of being the cause of the doom that has befallen Nigeria through the introduction of western education.

The group referred to the university as an embarrassment to the country and they will stop at notting but wrecking the university to it's doom.

The group said

“You people are an embarrassment to Nigeria and are the people that brought in western education to Nigeria."

"You doomed this nation and in turn you all are going to be doomed."

"Most of you are going to die before Independence Day. You will not spend the Independence Day in peace, you and your students."

“Detonation will start going from tomorrow till Independence Day and there is nothing you can do as we are among you."

"Even your little searches at the gate won’t do anything. By the time we are through with you, your government will be sorry.”

However the director of communications in University of Ibadan Olatunji Oladejo, have dismissed the threat calling it an action of mischievous people. He said the school is serene.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed reports of the threat. He said the Nigerian police have deployed security agents to the school.
