Commendable. Hopefully, it is real and not the rice farming investments from Singaporean investors that never existed. That said, Oron road which links the airport should be expanded and have pedestrian lanes, closed gutters (wonder what is fine in seeing open gutters). That road currently is a disgrace; the result of utilizing quacks who termed themselves Gitto construction. |

seguno2: Desperate people celebrate any win when they been losing for decades. Let us have this in hope of better times. When deal done watch them like hawks make sure it's done well. When seaport is operational make sure the port Authority maintains it. Maybe you should think of investing the Akwa Ibom government looking for some for wearhouses and such. 2 Likes 1 Share |

yaki84: A good friend(Senior Assistant ) was involved in this project under Akpabio with the surveying aspect, so when I speak of people frustrating it I know because I witnessed it. Akpabio was threatened to abandon it or he will be dealt with. I still suspect Udom will be warned to leave it soon or else. There is a reason why none of the ports in SS and SE are fully functional...Calabar, Warri, Port Harcourt, Onitsha and Onne. And Port Harcourt, Warri, Onne, and Calabar are all owned and controlled by Dangote and Atiku....is it a coincidence? It's not by accident, it is by design. All of of SS and SE have no clue what they are doing to us. Same with airports...Only Lagos and Abuja are fully functional in terms of direct international flights. 4 Likes 1 Share |

S Freedom2016:. Many guys are just writing on Nairaland due to their myopic brain and low iq...Lagos is the only city in Nigeria that Atlantic ocean enter their city, all other states in Nigeria are with lagoon/rivers that enter their cities, Epe/Badagry/Apapa have one of the deepest sea port in west Africa so that's why it's easier for both foreign/local importers to patronise lagos port. We have gelegele seaport here in edo state but it can never contain very huge ships. Then the issue of Niger/delta militant is another problem so many ship owners are more comfortable with lagos sea port than any other state in Niger delta. After dredging akwa ibom deep sea port it can only contain moderate sized ship just like our gelegele seaport in edo state. So u people should stop hating lagos because GOD sees other states in Nigeria before he allowed Atlantic ocean to enter inside their city while all other state in Nigeria can only dredge lagoon and small small rivers. In term of civilization lagos is number one. So stop hating yoruba people because of their blessings, lagos is now enjoying 13% oil allocation because of their oil. But we edo are always moving forward without being jealous of any tribe. GOD bless edo state and Nigeria 11 Likes |

Blue3k:after all these time we should have experts that can build and design, yet after all these while we still import toothpicks, people still fly abroad for treatments, we have just one car manufacturing company(that people are still skeptical of patronising), yet we have qualified doctors and engineers, why do you think Nigerians don't like made in Nigeria products, it's because we have a proven track record for mediocrity and substandard end products, and contracts are awarded based on qualifications and a track record of quality end products. |

InyinyaAgbaOku:Stop lying. NOT LICENSED? Where did you get that fiction from?None of those ports are on the Sea but quite far inland and not suitable for large vessels. Vessels that have to travel inland are at risk of piracy and many insurers will not take the risk in Nigeria This is the story across the entire Nigeria coastline which is mostly mangrove and swamp. In terms of cost Lagos is the most viable because it does not need any dredging and Lagos can easily accommodate 4 more ports. Any port in Lagos will cost 4 times as much to build in other places plus there is a need to build evacuation infrastructure (roads and rail). In fact Ondo state offers a better alternative but has been marginalized because of politics(people will say , is it only SW but outside of Lagos is a better option in terms of cost and the coast is not far from Ore which is better for some parts of the country 1 Like |

rassan: Badagry port Anyways, your point has been noted. but there is an implicit reason why many comments you are up there are the way they are. It is because of the paranoia that the other end does not want any good thing for my own region. This paranoid thinking is on both sides. 1 Like |
