Dr Adekunle Owolabi, a Nigerian doctor practicing in Labrador West, Canada, who asked a woman during a Pap test if she "liked big ones or small ones" has lost his medical licence for six months and must be chaperoned when seeing female patients for two years once he goes back to work.

A three-person tribunal established by the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons found Dr. Owolabi guilty Monday of four counts of professional misconduct after a six-day hearing earlier this year.

Four female patients had accused the Nigeria-trained doctor of making sexual comments, and of inappropriate hugging and kissing.

To resume his general practice, Adekunle must take a course on appropriate doctor-patient boundaries. He was also ordered to pay $75,000 in costs related to the investigation and disciplinary process.

In each of the four separate complaints, Owolabi was found to have shown a lack of respect for the dignity and privacy of his patients, constituting professional misconduct.

He has 30 days to appeal the penalties to the trial division of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Dr. Elizabeth Mate, who led the tribunal said comments Owolabi made to one complainant during a 2014 Pap test, asking if she "liked big ones or small ones," were "cavalier" and "unprofessional."

Well it is not Nigeria where doctors put on airs and nurses act like ''gods''. Where people die in their watch and no one is asked to explain why and how. Over there a silly comment like ''do you like big ones or small ones'', perhaps referring to her preference in Penile/Pen-is sizes, is enough to get you into trouble.Now imagine the trouble they will go through if someone is lost.

In my opinion, the Nigerian Medical Industry is not even good enough to generally take care of animals not to talk of humans. The sanitary conditions in meat shops is better than may hospitals in Nigeria. Only a minute few operate to good standards. Reddington, Olive Branch, and the like.

Go to public and private hospitals and see what doctors do to young ladies and ignorant older women. You will be afraid to allow any of your daughters or female family members visit a doctor without a chaperon.

And like I tell all women who care to listen A DOCTOR IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!!! Telling to strip naked for a pulse check and telling you to allow him touch your cl.it oris for a fertility problem are not standard procedures. If you have an appointment with a doctor, try to get pre-informed about what is expected. And if you are not comfortable about what the doctor is doing. Tell him so, boldly and firmly!
