Nick-named the beast by Tecno Mobile, the Tecno Phantom 6 plus is the first Deca-core processor smartphone to be launched in the continent of Africa.
The device is powered by MediaTek Helio X20 processor which is a deca-core utilizing 64-bit architecture in three clusters, Big, Medium, Little, adding four additional Cortex A53 cores to theoretically achieve a better balance of performance specifications

The Helio X20 also comes with MediaTek’s first CDMA2000 modem. This means that the MT6797 will now be able to support up to 300 MB/s of download and 50MB/s of upload speeds coupled with 30% reduced power consumption when compared to its predecessor, the Helio P10.
In this review I will be running some benchmark tests on the Tecno phantom 6 plus to determine how it performs compared to devices on the same range and the very expensive ones

I will be starting with Quadrant benchmark. The Quadrant Benchmark application for Android runs a series of processor-intensive tests to determine the performance of an Android device compared to other Android devices. I got a score of 31k which is impressive.

Next is Antutu benchmark which is one of the most popular benchmark apps for Android devices. It tests the 3D, UX, RAM and the CPU performance of your device and assigns an overall score.

UX

This tries to show us how the user experience will be in real world usage. It's is divided into two sub-scores — Multitask and Runtime. The Multitask score represents how well the device can multitask, so a multi-core CPU will help here. The Runtime score represents how well Android’s Dalvik runtime runs apps. The UX also includes the

I/O

The Input/output (IO) scores reflect the speed of your device’s internal storage, such as its flash memory or internal SD card. This is where your applications, settings, files, and everything else on your device are stored in long-term storage. Your device regularly loads data from and saves data to its internal storage. Faster internal storage means apps will load faster, files will save quicker, and you’ll see less interface hiccups when an app is saving data or loading data in the background.




RAM

Our devices use random access memory (RAM) as working memory, while an internal SD card is used for long-term storage. The faster it can write to and read data from its RAM, the faster your device will perform. RAM is constantly being used on our devices, whatever we’re doing.
GPU

Your device’s graphics processing unit (GPU) handles accelerated graphics. When you play a game, your GPU kicks into gear and renders the 3D graphics or accelerates the shiny 2D graphics. Many interface animations and other transitions also use the GPU. The GPU is optimized for these sorts of graphics

This benchmark is divided into two subscores — 2D graphics and 3D graphics. You’ll see AnTuTu perform both a 2D test and a 3D test while performing the benchmark. 2D graphics are used when you ply something like classic Angry Birds to move the birds and other elements around the screen. 3D graphics are used when you play something like Angry Birds Go to render a full 3D scene.

The pictures below show the score of the Tecno Phantom 6 plus against Nexus 6P, Galaxy Note 5, Huawei P9 and Samsung galaxy S6. I would have loved to compare with Gionee M6 plus but when I check the specs I discovered that the processor is Helio P10 which can’t compete with the Helio X20

CPU

A faster CPU can run apps faster, so everything on your device will seem faster.

Finally I am going to run the Geekbench 4 on the Tecno phantom 6 plus.

Wait for people who will come here and see these impressive specs, yet they will say Tecno lies about their specs meanwhile we can see from these different benchmark tests that the phone competes favorably with the Samsungs and nexuses of this world.

86k+ on antutu is impressive which ever way you look at it.

OP I thought android has done away with dalvik and now uses ART since the days of kitkat. I might be wrong though, will have to look it up again.

Dude. Like the fine game of football, what sells a striker is current form of a striker, not what he did 2 or 3 seasons ago.

You still don't get what it means to handle a device crafted masterfully with 10 processors. smh. The speed with which this "beast" runs. The highly sofisticated multitasking abilities. First of its kind in Africa.

You know in your mind you are just being biased and economical with the truth. Dey there dey jonz while I keep praying to have this device soon.

Who ever is coming up with these designs by Tecno mobile is an amazing genius. Kudos for setting the standards. The facts that other brands have to wait for Tecno mobile to come to market first before copying Tecno engineers' designs is an evidence of rapid transformation by the company.

An idea just hit me.
One of this our tech bloggers should do a social experiment with the phantom 6+. Get a huawei or Samsung sticker to cover the "Tecno"
Ask random pple to have a feel and guess the price, they are most likely going to call an outrageous price thinking its a Samsung/huawei. Watch them open their mouth in amazement when you take off the sticker to reveal "Tecno"

Will make for a fun viewing.

benchmarks are an insight to how the device will perform in real life.. The helio X20 is a respectable proccessor

If that's fast then what do you regard the Snapdragon 820 which has a download speed of 600MB/s and an upload speed of 300MB/s which is twice that of phantom 6 plus 150MB/s upload speed??
