I AM BEGINNING TO FEEL THAT DEMOCRACY IS NOT REALLY WHAT NIGERIA NEEDS NOW.
WE NEED A MILITARY GOVERNMENT THAT HAS THE PEOPLE AT HEART.
IN ORDER TO DESTROY THE HOLD OF THE CABAL ON THIS COUNTRY, WE NEED SOMEONE WITH A GREAT DEGREE OF POWER AND MILITARY MIGHT.

You said what's in mind

National Conference can only be lawful and binding if it is recognised in the constitution. And the representatives of the people must be elected and not selected.

This was what sane people were telling Jonathan which he did not take into cognisance before organising his National Jamboree.

Law was made for man not man for the law.

Your submissions means that only our reps and senators can participate
in a national conference which will be fruitless because they will never accept
any sweeping change that will affect them or make their position shaky.

A National conference is needed "legal" or not.

The National Conference was in itself a transgression against the constitution.

Therefore, the recommendations are not binding and it's even a nullity in itself.
I beg to disagree.
The resolutions reached at such conference doesn't have the force of law, it only becomes potent when the legislature adopts it and pass it into law. Before then, its only a recommendation which can be rejected or adopted.

Really It seems u weren't born during d yrs of military rule in ds coun3 or maybe u were too young 2 rmbr. Those were d dark years, where govt-sanctioned assassinations wt killer squads were commonplace, where any little criticism of d govt led 2 abduction (arrest), detention in black sites & torture, somtyms extra judicial executions. D great gani fawhemmi was a victim of such. His cell was pumped wt toxic gases dt no doubt had a hand in his failing health in later yrs. U r askn 4 d return of a tym where laws were made by decrees of D head of state, who had absolute authority & Cldnt b questioned or held accountable,; wteva he lyk became law, where coups & counter coups were viewed as a normal event. When 1 moment, u wld b watchn or listening 2 a programme on d TV or radio when suddenly dere wld be static followed by martial music signaling dt a coup was in motion. U wld wait wt bated breaths & full of suspense whilst wondering abt d welfare of ur frnds & loved 1s praying dt dey weren't within d vicinity in which d coup was being carried out when suddenly u hear a voice 4rm d TV/radio set greeting u thus "fellow Nigerians..." ds cld either b d voice of d chief coup plotter annoucing d overthrow of D previous govt (accusing it of numerous crimes & offences) , sacking all top officers of D public services & promising 2 bring abt d desired change 2 make our coun3 great or d voice of D incumbent head of state announcing d failure of D coup plotters (referred 2 most tyms as criminals or traitors) 2 overthrow d present govt. Irrespective of which party speaks, it inevitably ends wt d imposition of an immediate curfew. U r askn us 2 return 2 a tym where trials were just formalities & d guilt or innocence (mostly guilt) of D accused was already decided b4 d trial began, Where d accused party was denied d ryt of fair hearing, Where appeal of judgment wasn't allowed & most crimes carried d death sentence (usually by firing squad), an age where public executions were a thing of spectacle dt were censored G (general), where children were allowed 2 watch real life graphic scenes of humans impaled wt hails of bullets amidst cheers by d gathered crowd. Pls if u truly love ds coun3, don't wish such a heinous evil upon us. Most of D ills we r currently facing in ds coun3 can be traced 2 military rule. IMO, D worst form of democracy is beta Dan d best form of military rule.

If you think the NASS as it is presently constituted will ever approve a referendum or national conference , then you have not celebrated your 14th birthday. What GEJ has done is to leave a document so that when people like you begin to think clearly and want to take back your country . You will rise and demand for the implementation.
