The senior pastor of Believers Ministry Inc, Benin City, Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sam Osaghae, has charged Christians to learn to praise God with expectation if they must break forth in life.

Rev. Osaghae gave the charge Wednesday in Abuja, when he flagged off the 2016 edition of the International Believers’ Summit (IBS) organized by Nobles Family Church International (NFCI) at the O’Neal Centre auditorium of the church, Apo.

Defining breaking forth as the sudden release of what is beyond people’s expectation, the cleric said one way to break forth is to give God quality praises with expectation. “You don’t obtain anything from a royalty by begging him (You would be thrown out of the palace), you attract the attention of the royalty by praise singing. Once you get his attention, he gives you the licence to ask for anything you want,” he said. “Don’t be in a hurry to ask God for something when you access his presence, praise Him till He is happy,” he added.

“Christians praise and worship God for many reasons: Some do it to entertain others, others do it to showcase how talented they are. At the end of the day, the praise and worship singers only succeed in earning themselves headache, body pains, and sometimes worse ailments. Some, who started the worship with one ailment or the other in their bodies, still go home with such infirmities in their bodies. The reason for these anomaly is that they direct their praise and worship towards man: To showcase their talents or to entertain the church. Thus contemporary Christians have replaced anointing with talent”

“However, the moment Christians learn to realign the purpose of their praise and worship, directing it to God, the result will be different,” he said.

Praise and worship leaders, and indeed the whole body of Christ, should stop trying to use praise and worship to pull crowd. They should rather use it to pull God, who in turn will pull the crowd. ‘And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me’ (John 12:32), he added.

He emphasized that the purpose for one’s worship determines the result he gets, urging Christians to make glorifying God the purpose of their worship.
