Is It Possible For A 1.6L 4cylinder 115HP Car To Ever Move At 240km/h by divinelove(m): 2:27pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
Just thinking aloud, i have a small car with its speedometer maximum speed at 240km/h, now this is a 1.6l 4cyclinder 115hp small car. can this car ever be able to move at this speed even when brand new given the small engine and horsepower. or is the manufacturer messing with us by putting its speedometer max at 240km/hr Kindly note that many 3.3l V6 with 180hp has its speedometer max at 220 or 180km/hr. Then whats going on |

Its possible. If not it won't be there. The question is are you willing to take it to that speed? 4 Likes |

Readonee35L: Is it even possible for such a car to accelerate to that speed on Nigerian roads without encountering any obstacle that would make the driver to decelerate? Taking note of the Fact that acceleration would be slow on such a car! |

Whizpeter:Not all roads are bad. It depends on your route. There are roads where you can cover 320kmph in Nigeria 1 Like |

Whizpeter: Nigerian road is not a factor i assume we are in US or any part of the world with the best road can dt speed 240km/hr be gotten from 115hp/ 1.6l engine without the risk of engine damage. if it is possible then a small car with 1.6L I4 115hp can match a full size SUV with 5.0l V8 500hp once d small car has hit top speed |

divinelove: It may be possible for that car to achieve that if you have an even stretch unobstructed road. Meanwhile...that speedometer could be installed on your car to cut cost of production by the company cos it would cost extra to produce specific speedometer for every variant they'd be producing for that year or later, what you need to really check is your tachometer, I believe that can't be compromised cos it measures the speed at which the vehicle engine is running either in terms of rotation of flywheel or shaft movement. I hope this helps. 1 Like |

I don't think it's possible. I opened a thread once about taking my Nissan Almeria 1.5L engine 90hp to 220km/h and the great Siena said it won't reach there even if it took me 1year continuous journey on a straight line. If you doubt check my 1000km + journey thread on Nairaland. |

divinelove: i think it can, though the accelartion may take upto 9mins. whats ur average rpm when doing 100kmph? upto 2000rpm?. where did the redline section begin on the rpm guage?. 4k or 5k? |

Its possible. Consider a power bike of 1000cc doing 300km/hr its a function of weight to horse power. Though its going to a longer time to get to that speed n with a lot of noise |

earthrealm: jst checked the red line starts from 6.5k 2.5 when on last gear can maintain 100km/h, it gets to 100km/h from idle in less than 30secs |

Cars don't usually reach their max speed rating on the instrument cluster because its standard practice by manufacturers to limit cars to a certain speed 1 Like |
