Yesterday, some Facebook users were filled with passion. They wondered why Nigerian girls wanted to marry in these times of economic adversity. Nigerian men, they said, were bound to be harsh in these times of recession, as there was no more free money to throw around.

One user was particularly vehement. Women should be content with being just lovers, until situations improved. They should understand with the financial situation in the country.

But the girls didn't agree with him. Not all Nigerian men were broke. Some still had money. Girls who wanted to marry them were free to do so. I listened to them carefully and was able to discern why they felt marriage was still important.

So rivals would see her and be kept at bay in the near future; besides the woman can have plenty of supporters when the man wants to misbehave in the future

The bridal gown to dazzle friends and family members about the new status

Marriage certificate to insure your future, in case the man turns out to be a punk

So the man wouldn’t have to give her peanuts, as he was doing when they were courting

A fine roof over the head, to make sure rivals are kept from coming in

In dis period even married men are waiting fr their wives to misbehave den send her back to her parents
