Karwa chauth is a festival of Hindu, ladies fast for their husband, for their long life. Karwa chauth is a festival which is celebrated since a very long time. As according to hindu rituals the husband of Savitri was dead and when Yamraaj from Yamlok, is tooking his spirit along with him, then Savitri prayed and without eating any thing she save his husband life from Yamraaj.

So since then this is a day celebrated as Karwa Chauth. Now ladies fast for whole day and wait for the moon to rise. When moon rises then all the ladies gather and start their rituals.
