Senate President Bukola Saraki Presided over Plenary

Senator Suleiman Adokwe moves for the adoption of votes and proceedings of Wednesday 19th October 2016, Senator Ahmed Lawan seconded.

*EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATION*

1. ‎Letter from President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of 46 non-ambassador designate nominees drawn across the Federation.

*POINT OF ORDER*
Minority Leader, Senator Philip Aduda raises a point of order urging the Senate to prevail on the Federal Government to consider nominees from the FCT.

*PRESENTATION OF REPORTS*
Two reports were laid;

1. Report of the Committee on Finance on the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority Act 2011. By Sen. John Enoh (Cross River Central).

2. Report of the Committee on Finance on the 2016,Budget of the Federal Inland Revenue Service. By Senator John Enoh .

‎*CONSIDERATION OF EXECUTIVE REQUEST*
Senate considered confirmation of nominees for appointment as Justices of the Supreme Court‎. The nominees are: 1. Hon. Justice Sidi Dauda Baqe, JCA - Nassarawa state
2. Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galinje, JCA - Taraba State.

‎It was referred to the Committee on Judiciary, human rights, and Legal Matters for further deliberations.

*MOTION*
1. Disturbing Development in the Nigerian Aviation Industry by Senator Dino Melaye. ‎He notes with sadness the emerging challenges bedevilling the Aviation industry as a result of the economic recession.

Senate resolved to: (i). Support the Government intervention with a view to saving the travelling masses from greater hardship.

(ii). Urge the Federal Government to extract from the airlines that will benefit from government special reviews, commitment not to increase fares arbitrary.

(iii). Urge the government to take a look and review the currency management systems to save the country from further investments & business failures.

‎*CONSIDERATION OF REPORTS*
Two Bills Passed 3rd Reading they are:

1. Report of the Joint Committee on Special Duties and Est. & Public Service on the North East Development Commission Bill By Murtala Nyako

2. Report of the Committees on Est. And Public Service and Appropriation on National Assembly ‎Budget and Research Office By Sen. Paulker

*ADJOURNMENT*
Senate Leader moves for other items to be moved to another legislative day and adjournment. Minority Leader seconded. Senate president puts the question and plenary is adjourned to Tuesday 25th October 2016.
