New Oba Of Benin Hysteria: Time To Bring Deluded Binis Back To Reality by BakireBulmaker: 11:17pm On Oct 20, 2016
Congratulations to the new Oba of Benin.

Wishing him a most successful reign on the throne.

That said, I have noticed that quite a number of Binis have been in a state of hysteria since the beginning of final coronation activities earlier in the week which has eventually climaxed in the coronation of the new Oba today.

I find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that Binis cannot celebrate their Oba and tradition without reference to Yorubas albeit rudely/derogatorily.

Since the beginning of the week, I have come across several stupiddd/senseless posts from Binis which I couldnt properly respond to because of time.

Hence, I have decided to create this thread and address all such posts with the aim of bringing back their posters from their current state of delusion/hysteria to reality vis-a-vis Yoruba/Benin history.

Thank you.

THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE OBA EVERY OTHER ONE IS CLEARLY A COUNTERFEIT OBOOY SEE CLASS AND STANDARD!!

NOW ITS OBVIOUS THE BENIN DYNASTY IS FAR SUPERIOR
THAN THAT OF THE COPYCAT southwest

I see the Nysc student Aka ooni in ife came to pay His dues and Respects to the source of his FOREFATHER EKELERHAN AKA ODUDUWA pls ooni don't steal anything or artifact while leaving oo you are free to borrow our culture as you like BUT DONT STEAL ANYTIN I NOR WAN HEAR EVEN IF NA BY MISTAKE. angry

Late Oba Erediauwa visited late Oba Sijuade shortly after he (Oba Erediauwa) ascended the throne. I dont think Oba Sijuade ever returned the visit.

The fact that the new Ooni is a young, free-minded,outgoing, wealthy entrepreneur and in-law of the Binis does not take anything away from the fact that his throne predated that of the Binis.

I'd have been surprised if he didnt attend the event.

Ekaladerhan bulllshiiit will forever remain a one-sided story told by the Binis. tongue

The only 2-sided story told by both Yorubas and Binis is that Oduduwa sent Oranmiyan his son to rule Bini and establish a dynasty which has endured till date. grin tongue

From your post, we can also infer that the Emir of Kano is also inferior to the Oba of Benin. What rubbish!

In essence, your post gives you out a semi-literate folk. sad

As regards stealing of artifacts, the Oonis current wife's forefather migrated to Benin from Ife to teach the Binis artistry. Fact!

FACTS ABOUT THE YORUBAS AKA AFONJAS
( 1 ) . Their story of
kingship began with Edo
prince and the Benin
recorded History .
( 2 ) . Ayayi crawder said,
little were know about
yoruba existence,
meaning they were not
part of Nigeria of today
boarder or were in small
settlement close to
dahomy. yoruba are half
muslims and those with
African traditions copied or got them from Benin
civilization . I doubt if they not immigrants from dahomy
mix with Benins or other fulani- hausa from Niger
. Bishop Samuel Adjayi Crowther (c . 1809 – 31
December 1891 ) Was the first African Anglican bishop
in Nigeria . Born in Osogun (in today's Iseyin Local
Government, Oyo State , Nigeria ) . His grandson was
Herbert Macaulay
( 3 ) . Yoruba have dublicity of kingship with the process
highly politized to being traditional . A system they try
copy from Benin but can 't get it real like the Benin
Kingdom. Edo Obaship is one of the most revered
institutions in the world because of the way it has
sustained its awesome prestige with strict and
meticulous attention to ancient traditions of valour ,
discipline and integrity . Edo chieftaincy titles cannot be
bought or conferred on non- indigenes or frivolously .
Every Edo chief performs a peculiarly sacred duty
and responsibility to the people of Edo. It does not make
sense , therefore , to think that a people who would not
and have never conferred their chieftaincy titles on non-
indigenes, would voluntarily invite , accept, or surrender
to non- indigenes as their kings . Due to celestial
origins , the Edo monarch cannot eat out and cannot be
diverted from full time palace duties to hustle
for contracts .
( 4 ) . Most of today
yoruba religion are
Benin Origin , Olokun ,
Ogun , Iha oguega (ifa ) ,
oronmila, Esago
(shango ) , Ayelala etc .

Many Benin traditions
and spirituality are
stillfully documented by
yorubas in high places
as YORUBA ? (Never mind the Edo man ' s christian
mindset quickly dening Edo have niothing to do with
African traditional religion , agreeing they are foriegn to
Edoland . . . LIE ) .
Although the Great Edo ( Benin ) Kingdom were not major
participants in the trans- Atlantic slave trade , because
the Obas (Kings ) believed that their subjects were too
valuable to sell away , and their noblemen had need of
war captives on their own farms , the influence of Edo
religion and medicine has still been substantial upon
the people of the Americas .
According to Mason (1996 ) , it has been widely
accepted that Olokun ( god of the sea ) worship
originated with the Edo and spread to the Yoruba ( p. 2) .
In fact, the most prominent part of Edo cultural
traditions that has made its mark in the New World is
Olokun worship. Olokun (god of the Waters ) worship
originated from Urhonigbe and then became prominent
at Ughoton around the Ethiope ( Olokun) River . The
priesthood and rituals were firmly established at the
time . Some of the possible points of contact happened
early. During the Ogiso Period , trade with the Yoruba
and Igbos was quite extensive. Olokun worship may
have spread to those areas through traders . Prior to the
Oba Period , Ekaladerhan Izoduwa was initiated into
Olokun as a chief Priest while he stayed at Ughoton ,
before his moving westward with his followers to
establish Ilefe ( Ero , 1999 , p . 108- 109) .
Once he arrived , Ekaladerhan Izoduwa brought Edo
traditions to those areas and was a King of his new
community called Ilefe , which could be what yoruba call
IFE. . From Ekaladerhan Izoduwa ’ s loins , the Yoruba
dynasties may have began. However, it is certain that
Olokun is an Edo divinity whose worship spread to the
outlying Yoruba areas.

And OWIE EDO KPATAKI ME KIN So leave Igbo people of this Cus I AM A FULL BLOODED EDO BOY FROM OGBE cool BENIN!! SO DONT GET IT TWISTED!

Another long drivel. I'll try to address some point though.

@bolded

Ogun - how can that of Bini origin? Many Yoruba names start/end with Ogun e.g Olaogun, Adeogun, Ogunsanya etc
How many Bini names have Ogun in them? You well so?

Olokun - Olu okun - god/goddess of the waters(sea)
Okun is the Yoruba word for sea/beach
Olu is the Yoruba word for king/head/god

Are you telling me that Olu and Okun are also Bini words with similar translation?
Are you maddd?

Ifa (I dont care what you Binis call it) is Yoruba traditional religion. Is the language used to run Ifa Yoruba or Bini?
Are all the orisas(gods) Yoruba or Bini?
Are the panegyrics (ogede) Yoruba or Bini?
Are there Bini versions of Fadeyi oloro and Abija?
Na wa o. Na so u dull reach?

Sango(I dont care what you Binis call it) was the first Alaafin of Oyo. He used to plait his hair in honour of his wife(Oya) and spit fire. All these are well-documented history.
How come it now has to do with the Binis?
You guys are quite pathetic.

Orunmila is 100% Yoruba

Ayelala is ogboni paraphernalia. Or is ogboni - a modern day Yoruba cult - of Bini origin again?
O ga o.

The rest of the of your post is unadressable rubbish.

I have be searching for u guys.
Una go wait for us in Ife tire ooo.
After-all, Ooni is already in Benin.
After today's coronation,Oba of Benin remains in the palace.
Watch out.

Late Oba Erediauwa also visited late Oba Sijuade shortly after Oba Erediauwa ascended the throne. Oba Sijuade never returned the visit!
The new Ooni is just a fun-loving fellow coupled with the fact that his wife is Bini with Ife ancestry though.

He may have visited because of historical ties.
Or u also saw him travelling all over the places ni as our kings even the ooni is known for?

Remember,Ooni of Ife just came back from America with a large entourage?
That's outside his Aso Rock visit and several other visits like that.
This Oba will not leave his palace let alone Benin or other parts of the state rather Presidents, govs,Kings etc will come and look for him in his palace.

Different strokes for different folks.

The fact that our Obas like to flex doesnt take anything away from them.

If the Oba of Benin decides to keep himself in bondage/house-arrest all his life, it's none of our business. That doesnt add to his status as Oranmiyan's great great .... grandson or make his a demigod.

Ogiso in Benin means king of the sky, that was why the yorubas thought he came from the sky, such clowns, how can people actually believe that a man came from the sky with a chicken and formed the earth

Of course, that story is mere folklore.

Oduduwa came from the middle east where we Yorubas came from ab initio. Yorubas were expelled from the middle east because of idolatry.

Many Yoruba words have arab origins e.g adura (dua) i.e. prayer, alejo (alhaji/alhaja) i.e. visitor/stranger, barika (barka) i.e. congrats etc

Ogisos meaning KING OF THE SKY, this was long before Ekalerderhan or Oduduwa's Grandfather, they were a proud and prosperous kingdom. Ekalerderhan was the son of an Ogiso banished from the kingdom who on trying to introduce himself to a people who could not understand him but were awed by his presence must have pointed to the sky and they mistakingly think he came from the sky and made him king. The benin people later realised that ekalerderhan was wrongfully banished when is father died an expedition was sent in search of the banished prince this expedition got to ife and found the prince who refused to leave his new kingdom but instead sent his son this was the beginning for the relationship between the too. Oba in Benin has 2 meaning shining or reddish, Omo n' Oba means the shining child, am sure you are smart enough to relate it to Ogiso. What bothers me most in the yoruba claim is how an educated person will choose to 'ignorantly' believe that someone fell from the sky.

That coccck and bull Ekaladerhan story is a one-sided story that only Binis will tell to console themselves till the world comes to an end.

The 2-sided story both Yorubas and Binis will continue to tell is that Oduduwa sent Oranmiyan to establish an Obaship dynasty in Benin.

Oduduwa, an arab, came from the middle east.

That's all!

Thank you op for this, as in ehn , i have just been laughing since their oba's coronation commenced. Their Ekaledarhan story can only be told in their domain, and not outside Edo state. Bunch of deluded clowns.

Don't mind them... grin

They keep consoling themselves with that cocck and bull story.
Oranmiyan is even reported in some history books to be Oduduwa's grandson.

They are quick to mock our folklore that Oduduwa came from the sky. Whereas, every right thinking person knows that he actually came from the middle east just like other Yorubas.

Oduduwa was so named by the Yoruba people he met at Ife. cool
