This is very good. But it looks as if a few Nigerians are reaping the benefit of this new opportunities. It is time for our youth to understand farm produce, processing and exporting as a way to increase their earning power. It will be nice if some youth also go into research on things to export and how to go about it and charge consultation training to those that are interested in the trade.

Lastly, it is time for every Nairaland to study AGOA (Africa Growth and Opportunity Act) and to visit their office in Abuja. Here, all the agricultural products that American government wants to buy from Nigeria are listed. Sadly, we have not be able to meet up to 20% of what American are willing to buy from us. Time to seize opportunity friends!

He has not put reasonable policies in place. If not for the policies setup by the previous administration for agriculture, this recession would have been a death sentence even to those who are exporting now and to farmers.
I do not support any of the parties but bubu should sit up and work more on export policies to favor the naira more.
All politicians are the same. We should be grateful to God for blessing our country with natural exportable items

Let me tell you the former admin was concerning and maintain balance of the economy despite strong critisms.
Buhari who enjoys local and foreign company is busy monopolizing APC. Fighting corruption so that he can have the Legisalative and Judiciary arm of government to his favour. This is new strategy of the incumbent Former Military Dictator 1984.

So if you don't know, KNOW NOW.

Just thinking.. Kuwaiti dinar is the highest valued currency in the world, while crude oil accounts for over 90% of the country's export, it also lives mainly on imported products.

How is that? And why are we (naija) here?
it's becos they have a favourable balance of trade, though they import, but their export value is far higher than the value of their import. This is because their population is small. But believe me, due to current oil price, the value of their currency would have dropped, but still higher than the dollar.

What's the size of their foreign reserves and what's their population?

I dont know of Kuwait but I know of Saudi Arabia. S Arabia has a population of about 30million people, that's roughly one-sixth of Nigeria's population. But as at mid-2014 when the slump in price of oil started, their foreign reserves stood at $750 billion (that's like 25 times the size of Nigeria's reserves). Presently, their reserve has dipped to $550 billion, i.e. $200bn gone in the last 2 years. To checkmate this, they started imposing taxes and have increased pump prices of their massively subsidised fuels. Now this is a country that also gets billions of dollars from millions of tourist pilgrims every year.

The above example should sufficiently answer your question regarding why countries like Nigeria are deeply affected.

there is a long sad list of why we are here compared to kuwait but let me just give about the 3 most important:

1. kuwait has a population of about 3 million people while we have about 180 mostly uneducated or deluded millions

2. kuwait has a foreign reserve of about 82 billion dollars mostly earned oil sale savings as you know, while we saved nothing even at the time oil sold highest in the history of oil (2010 - 2014). rather in that period we reduced our own from the 47 billion dollars OBJ saved up to about 30 which is what GEJ left behind.

3. kuwait has a world class infrastructure such that even homes in kuwait are built with the windows permanently locked because there is uninterrupted air conditioning, but here you know the story already.

so after a historic oil boom which the world has agreed can never happen again we are left without any savings and any infrastructure, but yet GEJ is a hero to many deluded young buffooons from one part of Nigeria. anyway there reason for supporting him instead of reasonable leaders like peter obi is not far fetched: their criminal mindsets love the very idea of GEJ opening the vaults to a few selected looters which they pray to have been among if only his worthless tenure could have continued but unfortunately the rest of Nigeria refused to be moroonic as they hoped for. Buhari was not even the best choice but even a monkey without a certificate was better than the ineffectual buffooon

everything i said here isnt different from what okonjo iweala said on 14th april this year so feel free to google it, and am waiting for that buffooon that will claim to know better than her. even soludo another of their learned kinsman agrees with her as well, but lets hear what some deluded Ugandan jews can come up with

I have said it several times. To get to a successful land, you are definitely not going to appear to people as a normal person from the onset.
therefore, if this is the result of Buhari being sick in the brain as wailers claim, he has better continue to be "sick" upstairs until he leads us to that successful land.
Any right thinking Nigerian knows that the certificateless Buhari is doing something better than the other PhD student.

You know Wailers are everywhere, and they will definitely not like this at all. PDP has spoilt a lot of children in Nigeria. Imagine, because there fathers are not getting loots to serve their appetite thru GEJ, they have all resorted to e-warriors, rebels, and anti Government policies that will lead us away from the evil practice which has held us down in ages. Bunch of idiots!

Everything have advantages and disadvantages
In fact, now is the best time for Nigeria to turn the economy around because our goods will be cheap to another country, according to my supervisor in exchange rate, but it's a pity Nigeria has nothing to export.

Now, buhari's wife do not believe in him anymore, why should Nigerias now believe in him

Its a pity u dont know that Nigeria has a lot to export.

The recession seems to be resetting the brains of Nigerians; if only food prices could come down a little to reduce the hunger, then this recession would surely be the best blessing that has happened to Nigeria lately.
Attn: Lalasticlala, Seun, Mynd44
food prices cannot come down until supply meets demand
People need to get off the white collar juice and enter farm
