APC leaders kick against Buhari's ambassadorial nominees

– There is a rising disenchantment in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

– This is due to the choice of non-career ambassadorial nominees by President Muhammadu Buhari.

– The nominees names were submitted last week by the president to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

A report by Thisday suggests that there are rumblings in the APC over the recent nomination of non-career ambassadorial nominees by President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari may have infuriated APC leaders with his recent ambassadorial nominations.

According to the report, some of the nominees may not scale through the Senate screening due to the mounting opposition against their nomination. The situation could again find the Senate caught in the middle between the presidency and ruling APC over Buhari’s choice of ambassadorial nominees.

The report however stated that this is not a direct battle of the Senate, but the red chamber is the only avenue available to aggrieved interests in the APC to challenge President Buhari’s decisions. The ruling party chieftains are reportedly upset over what is now being described as the president’s scant regard for party supremacy in the appointment of persons into government positions.

Majority of the party leaders across the country, including APC governors, are said not to be happy with the way the latest ambassadorial list was handled, as they were completely ignored from the selection process.

This disappointment was said to have been more pronounced in the South-west geopolitical zone, where a majority of the APC leaders claimed complete ignorance of the persons appointed from their respective states.

The aggrieved APC chieftains have vowed to frustrate some ambassadorial nominees on the grounds that they do not represent the reality and endorsement of party leaders in their states.

The report quoted a source in government who is said to also be a chieftain of the APC, saying aggrieved leaders and their respective governors have concluded plans to frustrate the screening exercise through their representatives in the Senate “because this disregard for party leadership and supremacy must stop.

” The source continued: “This is the same thing the wife of the president, Aisha, was talking about. These same people are the ones who drafted the list as they wanted and pushed it through without consulting anyone.

“Even in Ogun state where the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is assumed to be very close to the president, was said to have had no say in the choice of nominee from the state, as Ade Asekun was said to have been nominated by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.”

APC leaders are said to be particularly worried because of the way the government is being run without recourse to the party leadership’s input.

When contacted on the issue, the president’s media aide, Mr. Femi Adesina, said if the grievances are genuine they would be looked into. “Whatever grievances there are, if genuine, they will looked into,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the ambassadorial nominees and former deputy governor of Plateau state, Dame Pauline Tallen has turned down her nomination for ambassadorial appointment by the President Buhari. According to Dame Tallen, she turned down the appointment to attend to the health of her ailing husband.

APC talks about PDP, but they've done more harms to the populace without recourse.
Bet me, Buhari will win 2019 election, if he decides to run. Edo state has proved the test clinically correct.

I thought all the nominees are from the North.
Anyway isn't this what happened during ministerial nomination? Why are they acting surprised?
