Good day nairalanders, please I need advise on the best certification to take to be a certified QA/QC Engineer? i just got a job as a QA/QC Inspector in a construction firm even though I have little or no knowledge on the job. Thanks in advance for your contributions..

If you are more specific then we can be more helpful e.g. a mechanical engineer might need some API standards cert... an Electrical Engineer NEC Codes, IR Tests etc... Chemical Engineer some Chemical certs etc... You might also need some HSE certs depending on the industry...

QC/QA responsibility is the same thing with other Engineer on site except you are there as a project specification enforcement engineer. You need to know the project requirements and in-depth knowledge of material testing, concrete trial mix and reinforcements details etc

It depends on ur scope of wrk in the firm, or what they really are into, cos construction is s general word. but first of all get ur ISO 9001 2015 certification. Also try as much as possible to be conversant with your job ITPs( inspection and test plan) and related codes and standards. U must also be good with drawing interpretations atleast. So the bottom line is that u have to make sure that ur assigned job conforms to project specification and contract requirements. Goodluck.

OP, you need certifications in the courses mentioned above. Pls don't rush. Take time to search the internet what the courses entails. Download materials, get from people. Focus one one or two at a time. NDT ( radiography, magnetic particle testing, dye Penetrant testing etc) certification or welding certifications (CSWIP and the likes). Most companies offering certification in Nig are only after your money, MOST give little knowledge. But if you are well informed, and prepared for their exams, you'll not worry about the quality of knowledge they offer you, you'll just get your certifications easily.

bro. i read civil engineering and have loads of experience in the field. Presently working with one of the companies on Dangote FERTILIZER pLANT PROJECT. Thanx anyway.
