Experience is the best teacher, education is overrated in Africa.

Other parts of the world values experience/talent and that's why they are full of innovations, but here we kill talents and promote porn stars in the name of beauty whatever "MISS Anambra" and compensating them with brand new car etc, but ignore those that exhibit talents, like we do read here how some built a car, plane etc.

Bill Gate is not the most brilliant in the world.

Steve Jobs nko?

What about C Ronaldo ?

Messi ?

Operah Winfrey?

Even Seun Osewa and so on, they are making it on their own, while many Msc holders are kidnappers, etc

i think he means educated in the field

all those you mentioned are educated in their line of field

eg a road side mechanic will say the 02 sensor is no big deal but a educated will know the effects to your pocket and engine life span

Went to an illiterate mechanic workshop (highly advertised here on nairaland). He put an hausa boy dere and he was making ends meet somewia else. Brisco or something like dat.

Called him on dis faithful day to have my rocker cover gasket changed. He said no problem come down and he will sort me out. On getting dere it was horror .....

before going to his workshop I went to popular ford dealer close to mariyand. De guy dere quoted 30000 just to check the problem with the car.

I had to take my chances with the so called road side mechanic.

On the faithful day. Upon arriving at his workshop I noticed very few cars dis got me panicked a bit. What could go wrong.....

To be continued....

(educated mechanic) did you read this part in the paragraph (The car is currently with my auto-electrician (Very educated Auto-electrician) who said something needs to be changed in the gear. He said the speed sensor (which is perfectly ok) is not being turned by the gear and hence speedometer still stagnant at zero reading. When he turned the speed sensor with his fingers, the speedometer responded but when connected to the gear, it remains stagnant.
He has checked everything every other electrical faults/signal/sensor that may be responsible but none of this seem to be the problem.

)
what is the make and model plus year of your car ?

You have been rolling with QUACKS.

Educated or Non Educated.

A professional is a professional.

FORD was not educated but invented ford motors.

Nothing pains me like quacks handling any of my jobs, that is why i know a little about everything.

From design to construction to auto diagnosis.

The guy who fixes all the Lexus, Landcruiser, Prado and Hilux in my state governor's convoy is not a graduate.
You cannot fix those cars if you are not Educated . So your guy is educated in his own way . He definitely can read and write . He can Xplain the concept of what he is doing . Goes straight to the faulty area . Not use wire to test different releys and end up frying ur ECU .

Am an auto mobile engineer working with coscharis. In my section, jaguar and land rover. The highest issue we have is roadside mechanics. After they have done there try and error. They bypass module cos they are not land rover license dealers and does not have the new diagnostic machine with user name to programs modules. No special tools they break connectors and cause high resistance, and open circuit spoiling expensive models. Am typing this message inside an f405 autobiography supercharged that they have spoiled the harness. Now they man have change the whole engine harness. Save your self stress. If you use economy cars like toyota take it to brisco, if premium cars like royce, bmw, jaguar and land rover. Go to Coscharis. How many road side knows how to use pedoscope. Cars are baby treat them like one.

It does not really matter either your mechanic is educated or not, the most important thing is to get a good mechanic.
Some are educated but have little knowledge while some are not educated with vast knowledge.
The major difference is the ability of educated mechanic to use Car Diagnostics tools and equipment to resolve car problem and to Counter Guess work done by uneducated mechanic.
My mechanic is not educated but very popular in my area, work from mon/sunday and Only those that have patronise a workshop can tell if a mechanic is good or not.
Oga gazzuz and others on nairaland are famous due to the good news shared by those that have patronised them.
Both educated and uneducated have their merits and demerits.
What would have happen to Nairaland car talk section without the educated mechanics ?
For a while I have been looking forward to oga gazzuz free scan that my mechanic cannot do even when I needed it !
And
I can't imagine calling oga gazzuz on sunday morning that my car develop issue and I will want him to come and check but my uneducated mechanic will come around before dropping the call.
I respect educated mechanic and I don't look down on the latter!

I need the contact of your mechanic who would appear before dropping the call wink
