Osun: Omisore, Fani-kayode Pick Forms by tebsala: 11:57pm On Oct 25, 2009
ThisDay, October 24

Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State yesterday continued the sale of Expression of Intention forms to its 2011 gubernatorial aspirants as Senator Iyiola Omisore and the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode paid N3 million to purchase the forms.
The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinade Akinbade had equally paid N3 million for his form.
However THISDAY gathered yesterday that PDP chieftains in the state were not present when Omisore came-calling.
It was also gathered that Omisore's supporters were allegedly unruly as they poured water on passers-by, saying it typified baptism. People in return poured expletives on them.
Shortly after Omisore's departure, Fani-Kayode paid for his nomination form at the state party secretariat.
But the national leadership of the PDP has described the sale of Expression of Intention forms to aspirants for the 2011 election in the state as fraudulent and vowed to investigate unauthorised collection of money from aspirants.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali said: "As far as the PDP is concerned, we are not aware of any plans or any selection of candidates for 2011. We have not reached that point. So we are even surprised that somebody will allow himself to be fooled."It is fraudulent, I think whoever is behind this should stop it because we are going to investigate it to know those behind the act."
"I want to alert our members nationwide that so far PDP has not commenced the sale of forms for 2011 under whatever guise except the case of Anambra which has been disposed off recently. Please let people be alert, they should not allow themselves to be duped by 419 elements. They should be careful and not allow themselves to be lured into this inglorious act."
The party in the state had issued its own guidelines to aspirants interested in contesting the party primaries for 2011 without recourse to the national secretariat of the party. Part of the requirements issued by the chapter is the payment of prescribed fees for the collection of "Form of Intention" ranging from N100,000 to N3 million.
Prospective aspirants for gubernatorial primaries were billed N3 million; senatorial aspirants, N2 million while aspirants for House of Representatives are to part with N1 million. Also, aspirants interested in contesting the State House of Assembly and local government chairmanship primaries are to payN500,000 each while councillorship aspirants are to pay N100,000.
"Form of Intention" through Oshogbo branch of United Bank for Africa (UBA).
