NO. The day you complete your medicals is your date of first appointment and your salary commences from that date. In public service, there is a difference between date of offer of appointment and date of first appointment.

Of course, it is very important. Not many agencies of government take the medical fitness certification process as serious as DPR/NNPC and the Armed forces. Infact, a lot of them will just give you the fitness form to go and complete it. Although, it must be signed and stamped in a government hospital.

I think HpV, HIV, BP, respiratory illnesses and other major illnesses as may be revealed by scan results. A friend who once attended medicals for the army was disqualifed cos a scan revealed one of his kidney was not well positioned. He protested and conducted a scan in another private hospital and it was confirmed. Though it wasn't a threat to his health or life, but he was disqualified just for that. (Infact, that was the first time I heard of a human's kidney not well positioned). As for HIV, there is an anti-discrimination and anti-stigmatisation law signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan to protect people living with HIV from stigmatisation even in the workplace. But we all know implementation of laws is a problem in Nigeria.

Yea, a terminal illness cna make a candidate fail medicals but issues like BP and sugar level shouldn't be a factor cos especially for EH that are close to 40 it'll be likely that a lot of them will have elevated BP and sugar levels.

Alhamdu Lillah! Got my letter on Friday. EH. Please anyone with any idea when documentation will start? Also, this business with resumption being fixed for all of us to 20th August, I don’t think my employers will let me leave until at least third week of September. I hope they’d treat resumption on individual basis rather than ask everybody to resume the same day
