Yes, where it says "what type of visa are you applying for?", choose B, then it shows you further option of B1 or B2, medical is B2. Then of course, for contact in the US, put in the hospital address.

Thank you so much... Please, can you advice me on this aswell. my wife and i will be applying at different date. She is going before me (childbirth) and I will be going later after a month cos am in Benin for business.
After she create her own account and apply, can I register my own details and apply through her own portal or I need to create my own account separately?

How much was your dollar rate 2014 compared to now?

Why not just create your own account separately when you are ready to apply?

Ask Delta to quote in dollars if possible, their exchange can be ridiculous.

You will have to creat your own account in this case.

Hello house, pls I'm new here even though I hv been following this thread for quite sometime. I recently travelled mid may to nj and stay with sil. Well she searched for a neighbourhood clinic for me after I arrived at 31wks saying it will be cheaper than the doctors office. I had no choice since I couldn't find one by myself so I agreed and had to pay $ 190 for first visit. Same day I was asked to pay $ 142 for lab and $150 for ultra scan. I paid all these n I decided in my mind not to go for any visitation again till am ready to give birth! because I'm on a budget. Alas! Just within a week, I started getting mails dropped for me at home and on opening saw $175, $600,$400 from lab and the clinic too. I called the lab but was told I had zero bal with them but I'm pondering why the 2 later bills were sent from them. I'm so pissed right now that I didn't discuss these bills with my sil because she told me from onset that the clinic visit will be cheap and I will eventually be referred to jfk hospital for birthing which we dn't even know what their cost will be on the long run, I had my first child in the UK but I only went in for emergency and that was what I was charged. This her own process of clinic is drilling my pocket cos I told them I'm a self pay and actually thought I should be discounted but no. I'm now praying no more bill comes from this clinic. Now my Question is...Shouldn't I be informed before these tests are run? Should I just wait till I'm am about to give birth and head straight to hospital rather than this clinic that just want to generate money from me because I was told each follow up visit will cost $110 bi- weekly. Anyone with useful information on how to go about this process will be appreciated. I'm stuck with her cos I hv a toddler otherwise I would just have ported to another state.

1. Dis ur pay as u Go carry K-leg o!
2. You should have asked earlier dan dis. Unless u didn't know abt nairaland.
3. It may still work out 4u if u call d people dat sent d bills and explain dat u're self pay. Dey often give discounts Even tho d initial quote may state differently.
4. Demand to know wot tests dey quoted and insist u pay for only d ones u were informed of (d initial $142+$150+$190)
5. If ur pregnancy has been stress-less, and same wit ur first, u may bone dem till delivery and show up at onset of labor or at most, near due date.

Good evening guys,

Please those that gave birth in Houston and processed passport at Houston, did u have to notarize at the US embassy or will any notary do?

Thank you

Good evening good people,

Please for a notarized letter of consent, does Houston accept notaries outside the US embassy or must it be done at the US Embassy?

Kindly respond as time is of the utmost importance.

That is easy, all you need to do is open a dorm account and request a debit card on that account. With parallel market rate under 400, $1,275 is under N500k.

Also, you can ask them if you can pay in dollars to their account directly.

I haven't checked any rate, but I'm sure they didn't convert at that rate. 307*1275 is not N1m.

Please ask for the USD option for your tickets, my last experience is that when you pay in dollars, you pay at a significant discount...I'm thinking airlines are factoring forward/ risk of depreciation at the point of repatriation into their ngn pricing.

Hi lovely mamas! I'm new here n would like to ask few questions for ur assistance. I traveled to states some years back to visit my sister with my family n renewed by visa through Dropbox last year December without knowing I was pregnant. Now I intend to birth in USA n have some questions to ask.
1) Do I need letter of intent from embassy?
2)Do I need doctor's correspondence?
3)Anyone with Idea of any cheap hospital in Xenia Ohio or within Xenia Ohio?
I would like to hook up with Ohio mamas n pls enlighten me cos I don't really know much about birthing in USA.
Thanks in advance

1) You dont need , DW just landed Houston and we didnt state she was going for child birth when we renewed our visa in Febuary, we apparently stated we were going for vacation in North Carolina. At POE they just asked her what she was going for and she told them child birth and vacation, she wasnt even delayed. Make sure you carry enough cash, plus your debit cards.

2) Always good to carry along all correspondences between the hospital and you

This is what I did so, just call delta airline Lagos, ask for the ticket in dollars then ask them the amount in naira then ask how much the dollar conversion rate is. I bought my ticket for September through delta and I was told 307. As a matter of I called delta office more than 3 times and got different prices.... try this and you'll see... I do that a lot for all my tickets and it never fails. when I check the difference with wakanow and travelstart , I put on a big smile. one more thing before u buy a ticket crosscheck your price with expedia on different days, when you get the cheapest then call the airline....

It is amazing that a doctor would accept responsibility for your health with no additional prenatal care. Should any doctor take you as a patient when you are in labor, the price will be much higher since you have not agreed nor paid for any obstetric care. Please update on the final cost of your delivery since I presume this cannot end well, sorry.

You can go with a notary public but from feedback from some people some years back on this same forum, some states can be funny when you present a notarised letter from a notary public for instance so I would advise you just jeje do am for US embassy. It free and you can get appointment the very next day and would be done is less than 30 mins so why not just go for it

I've attended to many pxts first time ever during labor and u never see dem again! Just classify all of dem as High Risk.
Mnwile FYI, all of us from naija are termed High Risk no matter d volume and weight of d lab tests u brot!
Edited- dats why I started by asking if her preg has been smooth so far. And d previous one.

High risk ke! Very funny. God dey.

That is why I like clearly written packages.
I would always recommend a hospital that offers all inclusive deals vis a vis obgyn, pediatrician, anaesthesia etc. Not to be getting scattered bills up and down. Infact u pay before hand and chill. No surprises here. You sign the contract and u are at peace. U can sign the contract on day one and return during Labour sef. You are covered.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by temmyo: 3:45pm On Jun 04, 2017
@kamee,

You should go to the hospital asap and ask for the fee for delivery for self pay patients. Sign whatever document you need to sign so you know you are covered and they can't bring any funny bills afterwards. If possible pay upfront.

Inquire as to the doctor that will take your delivery, how much they will bill you, if it's covered in the package, etc. Same for paediatrician, anaesthesia, etc.

Call the clinic and ask them to explain the bills. Since you said you've paid, albeit less than what was quoted in the mail you got, it might be a simple issue of reconciliation from the billings dept. You may not have to pay anything else. They just have to confirm your zero balance. Ensure you get a zero balance letter from them.

Finally, don't leave everything in the hands of your SIL. Most of our people there don't understand how birth tourism works. You are the one who knows what needs to be done and achieved with regards to your bills, especially for the purpose of visa renewal.

Good luck.
