The Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Aslem Aidenojie has apologised to Mrs Betty Okoebor for the brutal attack following Edo State Chapter of APC’s ultimatum to the suspended monarch to apologise to all Edo women or face court action.

It will be recalled that the monarch was suspended from office for 7 days as Onojie of Uromi by the Edo State Executive Council in a letter dated October 26, 2016 following his attack on Mrs Okoebor.

Violence against any human being is a crime against humanity and should be condemned. Violence against women and the girl child is unacceptable and should be condemned. Violence from those in a position authority and trust should be frowned at and condemned in its entirety.

It is therefore refreshing to see that the Onogie of Uromi have done the honourable thing by apologising to the woman he assaulted and setting a good example from what could be termed a bad precedent. This is because as an Onogie, he wields great influence on the people and his actions of “slapping” a defenceless woman in public could be construed as a norm by his followers and people who...

That the Onojie made peace with one of his subjects is not synonymous to apologising. Onojie can never apologise.

APC should be banned from Esanland, how I wish the enijie in Esanland declare APC persona non grata in Esanland.

For your information, Almost all kings in Edo are practicing inheritance traditional style. As the king dies the first Son takes over except in a case where no first son the immediate younger brother takes over.

So where does the government have power to suspend a king?

A king doesn't apologise in Edo be it who ever you are. He will only settle his grievance with you.

Just like saying Buhari calls for Oba of Benin suspension or removal.
