The University of Nottingham (UoN) is a public research university based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom. It was founded as University College Nottingham in 1881 and was granted a Royal Charter in 1948.

Nottingham's main campus (University Park) and teaching hospital (Queen's Medical Centre) are situated on the outskirts of the City of Nottingham, with a number of smaller campuses and sites located elsewhere in Nottinghamshire, Derby, Derbyshire, and Lincoln. Outside the United Kingdom, Nottingham has campuses in Semenyih, Malaysia and Ningbo, China.

Professional Ranking World Universities ranked the University of Nottingham the second best university in the UK and 13th in the world according to the number of alumni holding CEO position in Fortune Global 500 companies. This year, UoN is happy to announce the prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Research Excellence. This scholarship aim to recognise and reward applications from outstanding international students from the Faculties of Arts, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science and Social Sciences.

Scholarship degree target: PhD research degree programme in Faculty of Arts, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science, Social Sciences.

Scholarship benefit(s): Full tuition fee scholarships only.

Target group: International applicants considered as overseas fee paying purposes are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility: The following eligibility criteria applies:

You can apply for this scholarship if you:

are classed as an overseas student for fee purposes AND
already hold an offer to start a full-time research degree programme*, PhD or MPhil, at our Nottingham campus with a start date that falls between 01 October 2017 and 01 February 2018 (inclusive), in any subject area** excluding Engineering***
*Please note that these scholarships are for up to each of 3 years of a research programme, subject to satisfactory progress.

**We welcome applications from suitable candidates but would particularly value applications from strong candidates wishing to work within the research priority areas of each faculty. Please check with individual faculties via the links below regarding their areas of research: Arts, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science, Social Sciences
