The Nigerian Navy Ship UNITY, the latest acquisition constructed by the China Shipbuilding and Offshore International Limited (CSOIL) has arrived Lagos Nigeria. The ship which departed China on 15 September 2016 berthed at the Nigerian Naval Dockyard Jetty yesterday 4th November 2016 at about 2:10 pm. She was escorted into harbour by two locally constructed Seaward Defence Boats (SDBs) NNS ANDONI and NNS KARADUWA as well as TUG CDR UGWU.

It may be recalled that NNS CENTENARY, a sister ship of the same class was the first to be constructed by CSOIL. NNS UNITY being the second is built for high endurance capability at sea which makes her an ideal platform for naval operations.

On hand to receive her was the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, officials of the Chinese Embassy in Lagos, representative of CSOIL in Nigeria, Mr Dapo Oguntayo and former Chiefs of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Micheal Adelanwa (rtd), Vice Admiral Victor Ombu (rtd) and Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba (rtd). Other dignitaries that graced the reception ceremony include the past Chief of the General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe (rtd), General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Flag Officers Commanding Western Naval Command and Naval Training Command, senior military officers as well as officials of security agencies.

NNS UNITY, while on her homeward voyage, paid port calls at the ports of five countries in Asia and Africa namely Port of Klang in Malaysia, Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka, Port Lious in Mauritius, Simons Town Port in South Africa and finally Port of Luanda in Angola.

GEJ or Buhari... doesn't matter which administration. .. the ship was paid for by taxpayers...by us. What is more important is the price tag. ... how well is the ship equipped.... and the reputation of the shipbuilder with regards to this type of ship. The price tag is a secret... it shouldn't be... but I suspect publishing it may start a rebellion. The ship is here ...warship.... but we learn nothing about its weapons... anti aircraft guns?.. helicopter pads?... radar capabilites?....capable of intercepting incoming missiles?... cost of maintenance... we learn about its long term endurance at sea..how long is longbterm?...three days? ... and lastly, the shipbuilders CSOIL..... this is the second such ship build by the company.... both sold to Nigeria. Is Nigeria it's only customer?... or is it some Nigerian has stakes in that company? ... or is it that we are indirectly paying for the development of the company by buying off their experimental warships? Something is wrong with this picture.

Part of the reasons hunger is killing your people is due to the militancy in the Niger Delta region. Military action is also needed to bring stability to the area so the economy can improve in order to feed you and your people.

Hope Tompolo and his boys will now know that the gun boat he purchased during GEJ administration is a child's play to this ship. Let them not try the Nigerian Navy. God bless Nigeria! !!

The ship of that sophistication can never be built in twenty four months this are not gun boats, its Pre-order it takes years to build that type of ships.
