Edo State Government has rejected the apologies tendered by the Ojuromi of Uromi, Zaiki Edenojie II.

It rather suspended the Onojie of Uromi for one year for failing to apologise within the stipulated period to a woman, Ms Betty Okoeber, whom the Onojie allegedly assaulted on September 28, at a polling unit in Uromi.

The traditional ruler was earlier suspended for seven days and asked to apologise for disobeying constituted authorities and allegedly assaulting a woman.

Intervention by some political leaders of Uromi saw the alleged victim tendering apologies to the Onojie.

In his letter of apologies to the state government, the embattled Onojie said the victim has followed the custom and reconciled herself to the Throne as a daughter.

He apologised for not replying the query within the stipulated time and “not obtaining permission before I travelled outside the country.”

In a letter dated November 4, 2016 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, the state government said the one-year suspension takes effect from Monday, November 7.

The letter reads: “The Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole is in receipt of your letter of 28th October, 2016 on the above subject matter.

Serious matter. I don't get it. The custom of his land does not allow the king to apologise to his subject, hence, she was reconciled with the king by her apology. May be, Oshiomole feels that if he can apologise to the woman at the centre of "Go and Die" controversy, then the king should do same. The king must have campaigned for the opposition party

Half the story will never be told... the parties involved, knows what truly happened. If Oshimole can apologize and even went on to go on a working visit with his female victim "go and die" what other examples does a traditional chief need? Culture or not the Governor is superior to the chief by our laws and their both victims are equal before God and Man. Anyway, he eventually apologized but he did obdurately.

The late military administrator of Edo State Navy Captain Anthony Onyearugbulem that suspended the the Oba of benin, he died a mysterious death after suffering from various strange and spiritual sickness for years that defied medical solutions., his family and this kinsmen from the East had to send emissaries several times to Benin City to come beg the Oba of Benin

If the lady induced voters with money according to you, was Onojie the right person to call her to order? Was that polling centre where the Onojie Voted. Can't you see he was caught correctly without missing?
Since he knew he was supporting another candidate from Betty he would have send PDP agents or securities after the lady while sharing the money to curb her than exchanging words with her by himself knowing his position in the community.

If the lady induced voters with money according to you, was Onojie the right person to call her to order? Was that polling centre where the Onojie Voted. Can't you see he was caught correctly without missing?

If that's the custom for king not to apologized for misconduct then such king should bear with the punishment befall on him by the governor
