It's probably your pixels that are dying. Some recovery applications claim to wake dead pixels but the best solution remains to change the screen totally

I haven't gone that path before so I have no app in mind. You can Google it up, also there are other physical methods to try.

But on a second thought, as you said the spot is growing, I suspect it's an internal liquid crystal leak. Just prepare to change the screen
