IT is gratifying to note that nerves are beginning to calm, after the hullabaloo of the 2016 US Presidential Elections.

It’s heartwarming to see also that the heavens didn’t fall, and yes, your definition of ‘good’ or ‘evil’ is relative, in some circumstances.

Now that Trump has won…

…We look forward to raising a Welcome Committee for the return of Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, as he says ‘bye bye to America’. As promised his green card is to become history as it would be shredded, and thrown in the dustbin of the past. A lot of universities in Africa would surely need his services. We wish him safe travels to the land of his birth.

…Your uncle will finally return ‘home’. Can you imagine? He left the shores of Nigeria 25 years ago, and does not have the courtesy to send home dollars or at least cars. To crown it up, he is always seen on Facebook updating his profile with all manner of ‘oyibo chicks’ in one exotic tourist destination after another. No o o, he does not have papers o. he is an illegal immigrant. ‘Trump catch am’.

…Hopefully, there will be no more ‘free money’ that has made governments and governance in Africa lazy and unproductive. You will be scandalized to realize how much foreign countries, including the US of course, send to Nigeria and Africa to support health systems, agriculture, security, infrastructure and the rest. Sadly, many Africans have become overnight millionaires by these funds. Any wonder that development workers in Africa are amongst the continent’s richest and most corrupt. The civil service may not compare you may be surprised

…Start planning to have your baby in Nigeria. Perhaps the days of free and automatic US citizenship by reason of birth is over. Perhaps also, we will finally begin to look inwards to fix our health systems.

Now that Trump has won…maybe a new world order will be in place.
