The Universal College of Estate Management, UCEM, an institution that provides supported online learning for Real Estate and Construction professionals has introduced its Distance Learning programmes to Nigeria.
Its International Business Development Manager, Lale Day, Mr. David Hunt –Tutor, Real Estate and Mr. Akintoye Akinosi, the Chief Executive Officer of Cranesway Horeb Consulting Limited, UK, flagged off the campaign at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Environmental Science Auditorium on November 8.
Akinosi, an alumnus of UNILAG, advised the students to take maximum advantage of the rare opportunity given to them by UCEM. According to him, instead of travelling abroad for their Degrees and Masters, the students can save millions of naira by applying for UCEM’s online programmes. He urged the students never to give up and develop thick skin in order to surmount the challenges ahead of them.
In her own words, Lale Day hinted that UCEM’s undergraduate degrees benefit those who have already started their career in the surveying profession but also provide a launch pad for those just starting out in the diverse and financially rewarding industry.
“Our Foundation Degrees offer a possible route to Associate Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for those without A-levels wanting a career in the Built Environment. A UCEM qualification equips our students with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive contribution from the very beginning of their career, and all our qualifications are recognised and accredited by leading professional bodies, providing a route to professional membership,” Lale explained, adding that the institution’s mode of payment is flexible enough to accommodate all class of people.
Dozens of UNILAG and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) students, who convincingly registered for the online programmes, relished the opportunity brought to them by UCEM. Prof Timothy Gbenga Nubi, the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Science, UNILAG, noted that the world has become a global village. “That is why I was quite happy when this program was introduced to us.”
Established by Royal Charter in 1919, UCEM has trained over 150,000 surveyors and currently has students in over 100 countries. According to David Hunt, “our bachelors’ degree programmes are designed to provide you with the academic knowledge required for the fast-track route to Chartered surveyor or Chartered builder. All of our programmes are fully online, meaning that you can study with us while you are working and wherever in the world you are based.”
