Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday, signed into law, a Bill prohibiting land grabbing, forcible entry on landed property, violent conducts, armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other allied offences.

The Governor, who signed the bill in the presence of the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu; State Director, Department of State Security Service, Kabiru Sali; Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state, Dr. Olumide Ayeni and other members of the State Executive Council, assured that Ogun State would not be a comfort zone for any criminally-minded individual or group, especially the land grabbers also known as "Omo Oniles."

Governor Amosun who assured that his administration would not allow criminals to operate in the state said, "kidnapping is alien to us in this part of the country and we have come to put an end to it as it now attracts 25 years jail term."

Speaking with journalists after the Bill was signed into law, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, thanked the governor while adding that with the signing of the bill into law, "everybody would now sit tight and know that Ogun State is no hiding place for criminal elements."

On his part, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu said this is a clarion call for all criminals in the state to change their ways. The police boss assured that "henceforth, anyone caught would face the full wrath of the law."

Signed

Adejuwon Soyinka,
Senior Special Assistant (Media)
Ogun State Governor.
