Here is a list of Nigerian footballers who died on the field of play.

1. Henry Chinonso Ihelwere

Henry Chisonso who played for Delta Tulcea of the Romanian league. He collapsed during a friendly match against FC Balotesti in almost 90 minutes of the game. He died 30 minutes later after Doctors tried all they could to revive him. He died of heart failure.

2. Endurance Idahor

He played for Sudanese club Al-Merrikh until August 2010 when he collapsed and died during a league game against Alamal SC Atbara. The autopsy conducted on him showed that he dies of heart attack.

3. Bobsam Elejiko

Bobsam who played most of his football in the Belgian league collapsed and died while playing for his 5th division club, Merksem SC against FC Exc. Kart.


4. John Ikoroma

The 17 year old footballer of Al Wahda died during a trial at an unknown club in the United Arab Emirate.

5. Amir Amgwe

He died on the 29th October 1995 of heart attack during a game for his clubside, Julius Berger of Lagos.

6. Charity Ikhidero

Charity Ikhidero who was a former Bendel Insurance (Insurance of Benin) player, also collapsed suddenly in a league game.

7. Samuel Okparaji

Sam Okparaji collapsed and died during a worold cup qualifier against Angola on 12 August 1989. The autopsy conducted on him showed his heart was enlarged and he had a high blood pressure.
