It was indeed tragic on Sunday, as a truck with registration number Zamfara XA664-BUG crushed a young man returning from football training to death along water-works road, Abakaliki.
The truck which was said to have hit two friend footballers, knocked one into the drain with fractures while it skidded directly on the head of the second, bursting his chambers and letting his flesh and brains scattered.
His friend who rode on the same motorbike with him and escaped death by whiskers after been knocked down is said to be lying critically in an undisclosed hospital.
The Police and Road Safety officials swiftly moved in and brought sanity to the scene by taking the corpse of the young man to the morgue and the truck to the traffic unit of the state command along the Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.

The driver of the truck was reported to have initially ran away from the scene but was said to have been arrested by the Police.
