The Federal Government of Nigeria launched the Home-Grown School Feeding and Health Programme in
September 2005 under the coordination of the Federal Ministry of Education. The programme aimed to
provide a nutritionally-adequate meal during the school day. In addition, Nigeria has recently embarked on
management of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and currently has over 495 community management of
acute malnutrition (CMAM) sites across northern Nigeria.
