N5.2bn fraud: We have enough evidence to jail Elumelu, Ugbane - EFCC - Slams 158-count charge against them Lanre Adewole, Abuja Tuesday, November 3, 2009 THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, said it had enough evidence to send to jail, the Senate committee chairman on power, Senator Nicholas Ugbane, his counterpart in the House of Representatives, Honourable Ndudi Elumelu and 29 others, who were alleged to be involved in the N5.2 billion fraud in the power sector. http://odili.net/news/source/2009/nov/3/618.html It also arraigned all the accused before a federal high court sitting in Abuja, over a fresh 158-count charge on the alleged fraud. Prosecution counsel, Mr. Godwin Oblah, noted that the absence of one of the accused in the case, one Jibo Mohammed and few corporate persons charged alongside the lawmakers, stalled the full commencement of the trial, on Monday. He also told the court that he was prepared to withdraw charges against all the accused, who were unavailable for trial to ensure the commencement of the trial of others at the next adjourned date. He added that he was fully armed with his star witnesses. Mohammed was said to be recuperating from gunshot wounds with the prosecution asking for an order issuing fresh summon on him to appear in court. But one of the defence counsel, Dr. U. J. Azinge, urged the court to strike out the charge filed by EFCC on the account of want of prosecution. Another defence counsel, Mr. Afam Osigwe, also challenged the competence of Oblah to prosecute the case on the grounds that he had no fiat from the Attorney-General of the Federation. Oblah, however, claimed that the fiat issued him was attached to the originating processes he filed in court. The court later fixed November 12 for definite hearing in the case. |

Don't mind Anty Waziri and her jokers, They have enough evidence, yes. Will they jail, yes and no, Its a new game, they will probably win then Elumelu will be granted bail then appeal and win, Its a win win situation for both EFCC and Elumelu, Same thing will play out in Bode George case http://naijareports..com/2009/11/new-efcc-game-analysing-bode-geoge.html |
