PERCEPTION Perception is reality As a man thinketh in his heart So he is in reality We've become shadows of ourselves By thinking low of ourselves We've lost touch with reality By beclouding our hearts with age long illusions Opportunities have come and gone Disguised in obstacles they came We became architects of our woes We've blamed our ills on imaginary foes In sheer ignorance we bemoan our fate While the enemy lies within in our state We climb the ladder of sucess Clad in the costume of failure Midway in the steps we trip, we fall, we plunge deep into depression We repeat the process without questions Hoping answers will come when we get to the prime Like a reccurring decimal in a series We fall again and again Until a helping hand comes Not with a referral link this time But with a link to refer the plagued back to the heart The onset and trailblazer of the doom Serious refurbishing commences in earnest To eradicate erroneous thoughts and notions Streets of the minds are cleansed with emotional hypos Buried dirts and filths are expunged So we back in to the mind game With hearts anew in a positive state With one mission to succeed at all cost In a regalia made of shooting stars We climb the former ladder In a latter perception of sky high destination The obstacles didn't deter one bit Bits by bits we waded through them Here we are at the top Standing tall like giants on earths Seated in heavenly places The world our footstool All this, because we discarded the wrong perception In open arms we embraced the right ones Esteem and ego sky rocketed Never shall we fall again SPIFF FOR THE LOVE OF WORDS 3 Likes 1 Share |

REUNION Reunion is here again We don't have to reiterate it's gains Its a unique convergence That summons all past and present From far and wide, east to west North to south, across tropical Africa From the bight of Sahara to the coast of the atlantic They'll all unite in one city This city rooted them THEY were breed here Nurtured, cultured and groomed Before been sent out to compete Triumphantly they conquered Made their marks and footprints Championed noble assignments And made their own proud Today they gather in one accord People of like minds and unbroken chords To reunite, reminisce and smile To strengthen waned bonds they came There will be bounty kisses, hugs and giggles The feeling of nolstagia will rent minds Memories and histories will be dredged Hearty laughs will be shared in photo worthy moments The young will learn They will be encouraged by testimonies Inspired by achievements and rare craved feats They'll go home knowing they are in the right place REUNION REUNITES 1 Like |

THE SAMARITAN Was returning from the mart Strolling down a lonely part Unsuspicious of any vicious act Enroute my abode in watt Suddenly, out of the blues Came bandits out of the woods Since there was no cues i couldn't make the hues They came for my possessions Stripping me of them in aggression They battered me in succession leaving me in depression The priest passed by and didnt budge The levite followed suit like a grudge Everyone passed without the urge I was deserted like a wicked judge Then came along the samaritan Clad in his well tailored caftan He was returning from the town His name is mr Tan the samaritan In me he had compassion He picked me up from my mess Saddled me in his ass And rode me to the clinic Get him fixed and hale Doc Record the bills and keep I'll foot it when i'm back He was just a samaritan obedience For the love of words... 2 Likes |

THE DAWN IN the morning, as I rise I kowtow to my modus operandi Vis, say sweet nothings to my maker And skim through his sacred book. Without further ado I transit to the adjacent phase which involves a ritual cleansing of my tongue And my routine spa The stars of the previous night Stars of wonders, hope and light Have promised me a future Bright as myrrh and fine like wine I crave and hanker for that day With expectations steep as a mountain summit I had premonitions which I nailed on the cross On the cross of optimism, I nailed them Through numerous dark nights I wait in anticipation for my dawn "The future is bright" I say to myself But then, patience is a virtue I must afford One day I'll be a legend, hero and gem One day my name will be on everyone's lips One day I'll sigh autographs in awkward places One day I'll dine with Kings and Queen in Buckingham On the occasion of the dawn Dreams and fantasies becomes realities Weeping may persist all night long But Joy and laughter is certain at dawn 1 Like |

Dews Of Heaven Heavenly dews Paragon of freshness Sing a song of dawn Herald the birth of hope Fall on my raiments and girdles Let your moist get them straight Save my laundry bills In my raiment I'll smile in bliss Dews of heaven Come with my blessings Blessings of corn and wine From the fatness of the earth Dews of heaven Quench the thirst of roses Be the pride of Barbados Let the alamanda glow in your droplets Dews of heaven I'm tempted to taste But I'm more inclined to touch To get the chilling sensation of nature Dews of heaven Divorced from the clouds In the wee hours of the morning To flourish our shrubs in greenery Dews of heaven Showers of blessings Rain on me with hearings Heal my soul, I pray thee |

Heart cry from sambisa Armed to the teeth they came Allah al kubah they screamed Grabbing us fiercely like slaves We where whisked into vans Vans of doom, brute and cruelty Driven by men without a heart To a destination unknown and vague Away from chibok to a bizzare world Sandwiched like canned fishes We wailed and winced our lungs out We lost our low pitches to the wind We cried till our eyes ran out of moist We journeyed in fear, our crimes unknown to us The jeopardy that lurks beyond, unknown to us But one thing was known to us We are enroute to hell Our innocence were taken and battered Shattered and scathed by men of guilt We witnessed pangs of hunger and thirst We were eyes witnesses to sheer gory Every night, we cry ourselves to slumber Every morning seems like their will be no light at the tunnel end Hope has deserted us as we only wait for the worse Rape, a nocturnal ritual, we are used to. one of us is now a mother, the baby looks so much like his devil father she plans on killing the infant, her heart is ruthless now Pain is our gain, conscience is alien Death is no longer dreadful We are on our escape plan If it didn't pan out well ? Well, we love you our sweet mothers Sound our bullets when we die |

THE CHEMISTS ALOHA! Chemist, how is the struggle? Perhaps you're searching like Google Looking for departments to ogle In a bid to evade the hurdles You stare at the rising sun for hope Hoping that the grace comes to cope The H.O.D said nope In your envelope to elope You assemble with fellowships Like a herd of calm sheep's You say "if I must sail with this ship " Then I must be humble to his lordship How many more fishes to fry Till my ocean of joy runs dry No one will hearken to my cry If I fail to reach for the sky I will arise from my slumber I will read books in numbers My grades shall be fresh like cucumbers No longer shapeless, you amoeba I ain't far from resolve It's time for things to evolve I'll let my my stainless gun revolve Boom!! I shoot for the stars, problem solved This poem is dedicated to all chemistry students in Nigeria Written by spiff For the love of words |
