The President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comr. Aruna Kadiri, has reiterated his commitment to monitor all Students’ Union election with a view to ensuring transparency and fairness.

It would be recall, Aruna in his desire to revamp unionism nationwide during the presidential campaign across campuses vowed to also ensure that school managements do not interfere in electoral processes which was a common practice.

President Kadiri who was in the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on Wednesday, 23rd of November 2016 for the inauguration of its Students Representative Council (SRC), stated that “NANS under his leadership will ensure elections are held without interference as at when due”.

He was welcomed by the Coordinator NANS Zone A, Comrade Usman Baba Kankiya, who is also a student of the school, Comrade Maishanu, Coach Ibro, stakeholders of the association, as well as some former SUG/SRC presidents.

The inauguration which took place at the senate chamber of the institution witnessed the president-elect, Comr. Musa Lawal Kankara (Keza), took oath of office as president. He vowed to follow in the foot-step of NANS President, making students right “non-negotiable”.

Notable dignitaries present includes Dean Students Affairs Division, Prof. MS Shehu; Vice-chancellor represented by the DVC Administration, Prof. Muhammad Na'iya Sada among others.

President Kankara after the inauguration held a close-door meeting with all former SUG/SRC presidents of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) present at the event.
