Which Way Forward?.... Open Minds Only. by Originalsly: 11:33am On Nov 24, 2016 |
Open minds only. For starters. .. I'm just a layman. .. not a graduate period... but do follow world politics to a certain extent. Abeg.... park your party allegiance and let's discuss with open minds.... the message and not the messenger. Which way forward?.... present or previous administration.... what was the blueprint for making Nigeria rise on the world stage? Was there ever a master plan? Today we hear about diversification ... we would diversify... what exactly does that mean? ... and should it be achieved tomorrow... would we be ranked on the world stage as let's say India? If not then we need to revisit our blue print or adapt one that has worked for another country tailoring it to suit our situation. No country has risen as fast as China so let's see what we can learn from China. World history. Three periods of development. First it was based on Agriculture.... the times when we sold our own people to slave on the sugar plantations abroad... sugar was king then....the countries that had sugar plantations were the big players. After that Agriculture period came the Industrial Revolution when factories and manufacturing became the way forward and in the latter part of the 20th century.... oil became important as a result of the very industries. The era we are now in is the Technology era. Now back to China Why did China so suddenly move from a poor rice producing country to top of the podium? Their blue print. China was stuck in the Agricultural age.... the entire Industrial Revolution passed them by..... just like Nigeria. What they did.... was two fold. They got on board both the Industrial and the Technology eras at the same time....building factories all over the place.... large labour force... cheap labour... set out to be the hub for manufacturing worldwide. At the same time.... they jumped right into the Technology era.... setting up schools and other institutions to be in the race that just begun. This is the basic reason why China is where it is today. Where are we today?... still stuck in the Agricultural age. Should we like China catch up with the Industrial Revolution? I say no...let that one pass us by.... it is not worth it and the pollution that comes with it is even worse.... ask China or India. What goes around comes around..... Agriculture is coming back again. ... and reaching us still on pause. We have the land.... fertile land... others are coming to get it. We need to have a blue print to develop agriculture... we develop...we control our lands... not invite foreigners as so many of our leaders think is a great idea and development. And we need to reset our education system to make Technology a priority for that is the way forward in this century. The thing is.... our leaders... who we elect... are wired for the past century .... analog brainboxes.... when the world is now digital. This I believe is the way forward if our future generations are to enjoy a better standard of living than we..... and yes.... things can get worse than they are today. My view... feel free to express yours... your comments... and what I would appreciate most... are your criticisms... constructive criticisms. 1 Like |

science and technology is the way forward but we need to start with agriculture when our people are no more hungry then we would try to link research institute with manufacturing industries WWW.that's all |

If that should be, this present system of distributing electricity should be cancelled ( Electric poles with sagging wire). A new modern method that won't be affected by weather should be introduced. |
