NOUN Law Students Takes Council Of Legal Education Before The Senate by Nobody: 3:39pm On Nov 26, 2016
The hearing between LAWSAN and the council of legal education by the senate committee on Ethics, privileges and public complaints.

The hearing was presided over by senator Anyanwu. Paul Ndi Oyemike National President of LAWSAN NOUN, made an oral submission to support the written submission already before the committee. In his oral submission he stated that the CLE had no legal basis to refuse the law noun students admission to the law school. His argument was that if they could admit a student who went through correspondence to obtain his law degree out the country why would they then refuse to admit the noun law students who were not running a correspondence study. He presented a newspaper publication as evidence to the effect. The chairman who was impressed by this submission said he quite understand our plight pointing out that even the members and staff of the national Assembly formed bulk of students of noun. He further stated that their duty as a committee was to attend to every petition forwarded to them to see that justice is done. He also said that they would do the needful even if it entails amending the Act that established noun. When the CLE was called to respond to the petition the secretary who informed the committee that the DG was unavoidable absence but that had an oral mandate to represent the council could not make any submission because she had no capacity to take any decision. The committee chided the council for the absence of the DG saying that it was a sleight of him to make a written submission to the committee only to send a representative who had no capacity to take a decision for the council. The committee informed the secretary that the matter was a serious issue which no party should take lightly. The case was thereby adjourned till 5/12/2016. Noun as institution was unable to make any submission due to absence of the DG of CLE. In all it was a good outing. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Udeh McCollins. Reporting for the executive.
