Good morning nairalanders,

I will go straight to the point, I'm seeking small to large scale investors for my start up company.

I own a polythene manufacturing and distribution company (with recycling in view) called and registered as Funpacks enterprise,it is located in Benin city, it is owned entirely by me with a staff strength of 5, however it's partly funded under the GEM grant accelerator programme. The only reason I'm seeking this investment is because of the delay of the second tranche of funds being expected from the federal ministry of industry trade and investment. I'm currently in a situation where I'm turning down request for large quantity of goods because my running capital is too small to meet such as I have spent heavily on setting up and marketing to this point. (more details can be discussed if interested)

I started operations some months ago, we enjoy little/no competition as there are little/no manufacturing companies currently in Benin city/Edo state for our specific products. when I started I had fears of not being able to break our product into the market, like every other new business, that was my first fear, will the product gain recognition? Will there be patronage? Yes polyethylene is an everyday commodity, but there is always this risk of low patronage when you are starting a new business.
I decided to spend on marketing to avoid this, and just few months into the business we currently can't meet demand anymore, due to high patronage especially from pure water companies for packing bags which we manufacture. This is usually the season of boom for polyethylene manufacturers, and I don't want to miss out on it, pure water packing bag demand could as well be triple of what it is during the raining season, also boutiques, online shops, super markets and fast food gain more customers hence dispensing their Poly bags faster. We actually have current pending orders especially for packing bags from reputable companies we haven't been able to meet up with.

I believe in specialisation so I focused on only two polyethylene products for this initial stage. Pure water packing bags, and Poly bags (high quality shopping bags for super markets, fast food, boutiques etc). Company is located at 77 Goodwill Street, ekehwan Road, Benin City.

I have decided to draft a system where a sum is invested and 5% is paid monthly as roi, while the initial investment is paid after an agreed period of time ( say 6 months or 1 year). For example if 500k is invested, 25k is paid monthly for the period, the initial 500k is returned after expiration.
(this can be worked on properly, it's just an example and cab be negotiated when I get interested fellows)

****This isn't mmm or any magical investment where I promise 50% however, I do a legitimate business and can offer What's profitable for me, yet not insulting to your capital****

Valid documents (cac docs, government contract, official car documents, receipts, etc) to back up my claim are all available on request, also legal documents will be signed, and physical visit to the premises can be done also.

If interested please contact me via mail or my phone number. So we can talk further. You can also decide to do a background check on me. I hope to get a serious investor as soon as possible. Thank you.

Hi. I do like the idea of seeking investors but instead of waiting for a genuine investor I will suggest you expand the business by appointing distributors who are willing to deal in such business. I think this will definitely bring in more money/profit for the biz.

This is my personal opinion. All the best bro.

Nice 1. It takes courage to engage in manufacturing here in Nigeria.

Wish you luck.

Thank you sir, I really appreciate your input. But then again, you should be able to produce a large quantity of the product for distributors.

Sales distribution channel isn't really a challenge for me, as I currently have issues meeting direct sales to consumers, adding distributors who definitely will want credit facilities most times will cause another angle of pressure on the business. In my Blue print I wanted to serve the market directly, however I know as we grow this cannot be feasible, then distributors will come in.

So in conclusion, the business isn't seeking how to expand, but a means to expand. Usually I don't like the idea of investors, it makes me feel indebted, and I don't like that feeling. But I have checked my books, and I'm sure the business has done well enough to be expanded. We know the how, the means we lack.

Unless I'm getting you wrong when you say I should seek distributors, if that's the case, please pardon and enlighten me

Thank you sir, yea it takes real courage, power supply is always an issue, if only that could be solved, the effect it will have on our economy will be large.

Also the current economic recession isn't helping anyone, that's why I'm working hard to move into recycling as soon as possible so as not to depend on buying raw materials so much.

What's helping us is that we deal on nylons, and it's something 99% of goods related businesses and companies can't do without daily. So we are surviving.

Maybe one day I will take the company out to an easier clime and export our products back to Nigeria grin

I think you have a point. But why not try approaching the financial institute like Micro Finance Bank etc. I think some offer better and reasonable lower interest. I'm just concern because i was once in this kind of situation before. Please think of other such of raising money aside the investor's interest. Best of luck!
