Governor Willie Obiano has been conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Dikeora by the Traditional Rulers of the fifteen communities of Old Nnewi Division, FOND.

The Chieftaincy title was conferred on the Governor during a civic reception organized in his honour by people of the region at Nnewi High School, Nnewi.
The Federation of Old Nnewi Division comprises three local government areas namely Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo.
The colourful ceremony which was well-attended by key stakeholders and representatives from the communities in the region, also witnessed the endorsement of Governor Obiano for a second term in office by the people.Addressing the assemblage, Governor Obiano said despite the very austere times, his administration has kept faith with its social contract with Ndi Anambra in availing them dividends of democracy.He commended the support of people of the division which he acknowledged, has been instrumental to the successes already recorded by his administration across various spheres of the State economy.
Thanking people of the division for the title conferred on him, Governor Obiano assured that his administration will not disappoint them but will continue to fulfill its promise to them as the state's resources improve.The Chairman on the occasion, Chief Gabros Chukwuma who noted that the area is blessed with great sons and daughters whose contributions towards the growth of the state is immeasurable, however regretted that it was not until the Obiano administration came on board that the area started receiving government attention, urging the governor to redouble his efforts at ensuring the development of the area.For her part, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs Rita Maduagwu said the Chieftaincy title as well as the endorsement on the Governor by the people attests to their acceptance of his transformational strides.A former Governor of the state, Dame Virgie Etiaba who is from Nnewi, pointed out that the uncommon achievements of Governor Obiano in the present economic crunch have distinguished him from his counterparts as a visionary leader, adding that with the focus and vision he has brought into the state governance, Anambra is fast taking its rightful place in the country.The Chairman of the Federation, Chief Jude Okolo explained that they are endorsing the governor because of his outstanding performance within the two years and eight months his administration has lasted.
