The vehicle conveying the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, yesterday (Monday) allegedly hit a member of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, who has been identified as Biodun Atunbi.

It was gathered that this happened when the VC was attempting to escape from SSANU members who were protesting against him. It was said that one of the vehicles in his two-vehicle convoy hit the SSANU member on the campus.

According to the reports, Atunbi (the victim), was quickly rushed to a hospital after the accident.

The recent times have been a tough one for Prof. Daramola as many issues have come up between he and members of the three labour unions on the campus – SSANU, the Non-Academic Staff Union, and the National Association of Academic Technologists.
