Apple is expected to celebrate iPhone’s 10th anniversary in 2017 in style by unveiling its dramatically redesigned, bigger, brighter, and sexier iPhone.
New reports are suggesting that Apple is working on a prototype, which will sport a flexible OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display technology and has asked manufacturers such as Sharp, LG, Samsung and Japan Display to increase their production of OLED screens. As OLED display panels are power efficient in nature and allow manufacturers to make thinner handsets, the iPhone 8 could be further thinner than iPhone 7. These displays also offer better colours and deeper blacks.

Further, the Cupertino giant is also rumoured to be experimenting with curved glass that wraps around the smartphone. This dubbed device known as iPhone 8 might come along with wireless charging. If this happens, then it will end all those annoying moments when your battery has dead and you were nowhere near an electrical outlet.

Other reports indicate that the majorly redesigned ‘iPhone 8’ will have no physical Home Button, which means it will be freeing space above and below the display and making the phone more compact. The fingerprint ID is expected to be integrated into the edge-to-edge curved screen. Sensors such as Touch ID, ambient light sensor, and front camera will be embedded in the display.

According to the reports from Apple Insider, Chinese chip manufacturer suggests that the next iPhone will feature iris-scanning technology, which allows you to unlock your phone just by looking at the camera on the screen. Its camera will be capable of snapping ultra-HD photos.

Also, it is expected that Apple will go back to its glass on glass design and ditch the traditional bezel design for its upcoming 5-inch and 5.8-inch iPhone units. The Foxconn Group, who manufactures iPhone, has been developing glass casing technology since last year for manufacturing iPhone chassis in 2017.

Apple’s iPhone 7 had received IP67 certification, which means this could carry over to the iPhone 8 too. IP67 means the smartphone will survive a dip in the sink or down the loo, and it won’t break if you pour a drink over it.

On December 7, MacRumors cited Japanese website Mac Otakara’s report that Apple would release models 7s and 7s Plus with no redesign, but would be available in a new, bright red colour and powered by a faster A11 chip. If that’s the case, iPhone 8 will be a top-of-the line option for high rollers who want the latest tech whatever it costs.
