Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District has moved a motion, calling on the president as a matter of urgent national importance to appoint a minister for Kogi state.

He said that nine (9) months since the death of the
former minister for Labour and Employment, Barrister James Ocholi, Kogi state is yet to have a replacement in the Federal Executive Council.

According to Melaye, the constitution provides that there shall be a minister from every state, which forms the cabinet at the Federal Level. He said that the president has been silent about this and the good people of Kogi state are becoming more uncomfortable with the development.
He, therefore, called on the president to immediately proceed to appoint a minister for Kogi State.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the plenary today commended Senator Dino Melaye for the timeliness of the motion and for the urgency required with the nature of the motion,
mandated the that as a matter of urgent national
importance, that the president should appoint a minister for Kogi State.

In another development, Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye presented a Bill on the need for DAC, an Agric campus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, situated in Kabba, be converted to a full-fledged Federal University of Education, Kabba.

He said the main business of the people of the senatorial district is education and that the campus will serve as a viable site for the take off of the said university.

Senator Dino assured that the Bill by the grace of God will soon see the light of the day.
