Elchappo: You can learn how to swim in a swimming pool. There is no need to bring racial issues into this. 1 Like |

LorDBolton: Yes! Dont tell me you dont know it is so in other advanced countries? Every kid student it taken on swimming lessons now and then, as part of the school curricula. Go and find out and cure yourself of this 21st century ignorance naah. But more importantly, even if you can swim, it makes common sense that anyone travelling on water, has a Life Jacket to float you should something happen. Lastpage! 1 Like |

Please we should learn to be objective especially in serious matters like this. [My opinion though] The fact is that the drowning could only be traced to their not wearing any life jacked [or any PFD] during the adventure. It does not matter whether they know how to swim or not. What matters is for them to learn basic survival techniques while in water. Some people work in deep offshore locations but do not know how to swim [It's not a requirement but only an added advantage] The only requirement is that the individual MUST know basic SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES [Survival at Sea], which does not necessarily imply that the person must know how to swim. But wearing the necessary PFD - Personal Floatation Device, is a MUST in case of accidents like this. Hope this clarifies, my people? |

okeyfrank: One of the first things you learn during swimming is how to thread in the water with your clothes on , this is a survival skill. A lot of Africans cant swim they fear water like hell. |
