(2) YOU KNOW YOUR STRENGTH AND WEAKNESSES:Emotionally Intelligent person knows what he is good at and his weaknesses.This enables him channel his energy to his areas of 'comparative advantage' and becomes success at school or work.Imagine if Lionel Messi were an IT geek he would probably be at work.

(3) YOU ARE NOT CLOSE MINDED:Not being close minded makes one acquire more knowledge,understand people more and helps break stereotypes.

(4)YOU ARE SELF MOTIVATED:Self motivation is being able to drive one's self irrespective of the circumstances or what others think.It is also imperative for one to know what drives him.

(5) YOU UNDERSTAND OTHERS:Understanding others means you know exactly how other people are feeling, personalities.Being able to understand others helps improve one's interpersonal skill and relationship with other people.

(6) YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE:Emotionally Intelligent people are not those that have everything in the world, but they are grateful for what they have(life, family, friends, job, shelter, food etc).
Being grateful makes one live a happy life while working and being expectant of what he does not.

(7) YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE:Emotionally intelligent people are always in charge of their lives, they know what they want and how to get it,their moods are not determined by the behaviors of other people or their circumstances.

( YOU SAY NO:Many people do not know how to say 'NO' even when it is necessary. Some people are afraid to say no because they do not want to hurt others.Emotionally intelligent people know when to say NO , they know that saying NO when it is necessary saves them a lot of troubles and sometimes saves the other person.

(9) YOU LET GO OF THE PAST/NEGATIVE PEOPLE:Emotionally Intelligent people learn from past mistakes, correct them and move on with their lives.They also let go of toxic relationships and people because they know that these people drain a lot of positive energy.

(10) YOU GENUINELY HELP OTHERS PEOPLE:Some people do not help others if there is nothing to gain.However, Emotionally intelligent people help others, they help colleagues without feeling superior, they help family, friends and strangers without expecting anything in return.

NB:Emotional Intelligence can be learned, it is not like Intelligent Quotient which is determined by so many factors like heredity, education, environment etc.

most emotionally intelligent people I know are manipulative, speaking from experience I will prefer to work with honest ones who have a high IQ

Manipulative? Maybe it depends on the individuals involved. The ones I know have this uncanny ability to understand people and they are very nice.
