I'll like everyone to read this article with keen interest and digest it properly. Before any analysis will take place,i want us to take a closer look at the topic once more"FAVOURITISM IN THE CHURCH OF GOD;IS IT THE MANIFESTATION OF THE HOLYSPIRIT OR THE IMMATURITY OF THE PASTOR IN THE LORD". I picked out three important words from this topic;FAVOURITISM,HOLYSPIRIT,and PASTOR,however other words are important but this three aforementioned words played the leading role in this article.
WHAT IS FAVOURITISM? Favouritism according to the dictionary of contemporary English(new edition) says"when you treat one person or group better than the others in an unfair way. What then is HOLYSPIRIT?The holy spirit is God’s power in action, his
active force. ( Micah 3:8; Luke 1:35) God
sends out his spirit by projecting his energy
to any place to accomplish his will.— Psalm
104:30; 139:7. Who then is a PASTOR?A pastor is the spiritual
leader over a group of
people or congregation. He
furthers the work of the
church while leading
others into a growing
relationship with Jesus
Christ.
Having define this important words in the topic, one could now imagine if it is the Holyspirit in action or the immaturity of the pastor in action. Having know that we are one in the body of christ, why then should some group of people be giving preferential treatment than the other in the same body of christ. I wonder if it is the bible that says God is love. Favouritism in the church of God can be viewed as the flesh leading the pastor and not the Holyspirit. I wonder what would become of the Church when those giving preferential treatment becomes irrational thus the superiority complex begins to surface in the church. What will become the fate of that member whose pastor doesn't feel comfortable whenever the member is not at his or her duty post and went to the extent of making it obvious? What's the impression that he's trying to create on the mind of other members who are always punctual at their duty post;that they're not irrelevant or that they're not doing their job properly? His he leading the congregation to christ or leaving others behind? In the church of God,people are not forced to do the work of God,it is free will, then why should the pastor forced it on that person because he liked the person, this act will lead to pride on the part of the person that is being forced to do the work, thus the person becomes irrational and sees everyone as not up to his/her standard.
The holyspirit cannot allow favouritism in the church thus I'll conclude that it is the immaturity of the pastor in christ because the pastor allowed the flesh to manifest in his ministration.
In Conclusion the Pastor should trace back his step to where he is missing and move in the right way to avoid the disengagement of the church from the body of christ.
