This letter is about the law of victims and the call to responsibility

Dear wailers and non-wailers, the law of Victims is a law by which anyone on a mission to enjoy true freedom must x-ray him or herself with. Particularly freedom in becoming all one can be and all one should be.
It states that you can’t be a victim if you don’t relinquish power to someone capable of making you a victim.
People who don’t take responsibilities are victims. Some of them are born victims and instead of trying to improve their lives, they fold their arms and give up. For them, it is only government that has the solution to their problems. They look out and contract out their responsibilties to some other entity.

They refuse to take the driver’s seat of their own lives. They abdicate the captainship of their lives sometimes at a fee (you’ve heard of different sum of money for a vote) to an handful of integrity lacking individuals whose only achievement in life is a couple of medal they gathered deceiving people and if you watch them closely, you will see that they have no commendable track record of personal growth or any commendable pattern of personal transformation. But because of their questionable access to huge crisps of naira notes and other denominations alike, we label them “Messiah” and sing Hosannah in different languages under the auspices of our acclaimed religious sect.

You see, when a politician promises you heaven on earth and you later discovered that he deceived you, it’s your fault. You didn’t take time to do due diligence and didn’t investigate. The handwriting was on the wall, but you didn’t read it. You ignored the reasoning of logic in your head, you are therefore a victim of your own ineptitude. Of course, some will come out to brag that they didn’t vote. Let’s tell such people that a non vote is a vote. That you didn’t vote is in itself a vote. There is no one to be shortchanged but you.

The responsibility therefore lies on you to own up and say, I got it wrong, I will rise up from complaining and I will make things right.
And then it is so easy to curse and complain, it’s so easy to call leaders all sort of names blaming everybody else but yourself, complaining about water, road, power, and every other thing and that include those who have been given the opportunity to turn things around for good but squandered it. The question is, what have you done and what will you do for yourself and for the society other than bemoaning.

As we speak, the economy is down, several states cannot pay salaries, no reserves, many state lack valuable blueprints, the governors are using debt to pay debt and you ask, how did we get here?. The answer is simple…we relied on government, we relinquished every responsibility to the government. We use the word “they” in the context of government instead of including ourselves when everyone is actually suppose to be a part of any government in the land.

We have become a nation of economic rascals whose only plan is to spend and consume with little or no plan as to how to replenish what is being spent. We have become a nation where unfettered spending on assorted extravagance write our future in very bleak ink.
We must rise up, each man for himself and agree that we orchestrated our own doom and realise that if we refuse to take responsibility for our choices and decisions, we will only be recycling the process of downturn.

We must be willing to do what we have been waiting for God to do. So in the absence of true leadership, must stand up, stop complaining, get direction and show the world that those who take responsibility for their lives rules in life to the shame of those who feed fat on our commonwealth without having any clue on how to turn the future around.

Yours in Transformation
