There was this interview i went to, the lady couldn't look at me straight in the face she was so nervous and sweaty. I tried to ask if there's any problem but she won't say. I guess my beautiful nicely shaved bears unbalance her and she couldn't cope with my cute bearded face staring at her. She ended up asking me some simple personal questions, sweet chat then a handshake.

Even in the western world we are trying to copy, they accept beards as a symbol of diversity (of course, where there is no health or safety impact). I know that special safety facial masks for people who prefer to keep their beards are even being sold, so what are we talking about?

If you are keeping your beard for religious purposes, it is better you go with it to the interview stage, and keep your trust in God. If the job is for you (or not), He will make a way.

If not for religious purposes, then it depends on how much of a freedom fighter you are, lol. If you need the job badly, then I suggest you loose the battle to win the war.

Ultimately, working for yourself is where the freedom lies! I don't mind if you can teach me your job, so i can be free from 8-5.

I think it depends on where you're working. I had a job and when I went for interview I was carrying a lot of beard. I was chairman of beard gang but it was very neat. My boss, a woman, was always complementing it and she said most young men like beards but can't maintain it and she was impressed. However male colleagues were not impressed as well. Beard should be moderate and neat if you're carrying

Nothing wrong. I had some goatie though it was trimmed for the interview. It doesn't really matter but it depends on the industry.

Yea, that's the gist mehn. The perception has to be changed by challenging it. Let those who want to keep their beards, keep them, and lets see if the perception won't change. Check several group pics and he'll be the only one not in suit. I had a similar experience when I was to move into the Oil and Gas sector.
I was very busy and couldn't shave my beards before the final interview. This made me very uncomfortable initially but I just tried to calm myself.
On getting there, I realised the GMD kept his beards full, just like mine. This was in contrast to his pictures online where he shaved clean... I felt comfortable and answered the questions...
In my opinion, just don't keep a funny looking beard or goatee

I don't think keeping a beard can undermine one's chances of getting a job except its rough and not properly trimmed. I have been to organisations whereby you spot guys with full grown beards and they are comfortable with it. I preferably love beards and ur wuld be employers would have no choice but to love it, when its neat and nice.
